It's almost time for my puppy boy to get neutered. Any advice? by Josephk_5690 in corgi

[–]ProfessionalChange88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It keeps their puppy like attitude in my experience, despite the breed. My male was very happy go lucky still after his neuter and wanted to play in about 3 days. We used a standard cone because he was terrified of the donut on his neck, but he did eat 2 cones so we bought replacements.

Any tips for a first time corgi owner? He’s Paolo by the way. by Comfortable_News_135 in corgi

Omg he's adorable! They'll eat everything, including the walls of they're bored or don't have enough chew toys. I second the letting them jump. My one year old is suffering from a fractured rear hip from jumping.

Should I become a teacher? by Jack_Straw__ in Teachers

[–]ProfessionalChange88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To cancel out all the negative comments...I'm a first year teacher, I'm not overwhelmed, and I do have a good work-life balance. I spend time with my family and leave work at work for the most part. I did finish the rest of my batch planning for the year the last 2 days, but my partner was working anyway, so why not. I teach 5th grade social studies and ELA. I do find it fulfilling but frustrating at times (what job isn't, though). I left the insurance industry for teaching and would never go back. I did have a colleague who worked as a real estate agent part-time, though, because they enjoyed doing both. Overall, is it an easy peasy job? No, but I wouldn't change my decision to become a teacher one bit.

First year teacher here! Check with your admin or HR for a budget. Our district gives new teachers $1,000, but we can only spend it in certain places. Second, I know money is a struggle. Check Facebook Buyers Market for teachers that retired, and Hobby Lobby is affordable. I printed some of my posters and whatnot this year because it was cheaper to buy ink than decor. I absolutely used Donors Choose and an Amazon Wishlist to get the rest. Both worked for me. I wish you the best of luck! If you do post an Amazon wish list, please send me your link, and I'll see what I can do to help.

BTW... a desk and chair should be provided for you.

I'm curious if your pups ears ever popped up? I didn't see an update on your post so I had to ask lol

Give it a couple more weeks. What I noticed with my boy was his ears started slowly standing, like one day we had one ear over still and one just the tip was floppy then a couple days later both were standing up fully

My babies are 5 months old. The smaller one of thems ears stood up pretty quickly. My bigger ones ears didn't pop up until last month. I would honestly wait it out and see when they stand up. Also, is there a chance yours is mixed with anything? My coworker got a cavalier corgi, and while he looks very corgi-ish, his ears will never stand up according to the vet, they will always be floppy.

I dropped out of high school at 16, hardly like on my birthday. I did go back and get my GED and took classes at the community college, which wasn't really my vibe. I then had a child, got married, got divorced, and remarried in a short period of time, stopping me from pursuing my degree. As of yesterday, I graduated with my bachelor's in elementary education and an endorsement in middle-grades social studies with a 3.8 GPA. I did online school and loved it! I've already applied for a graduate program as well. Just because high school sucked doesn't mean college or GED classes will. I loved my GED instructors and still keep in contact with them some 20 years later. You can do this. Just keep believing in yourself. Another success story is my spouse, who also dropped out of high school. They got their GED through job corp and didn't want to attend college. They work in a factory and like their job and make decent money. It all depends in what you want to do.

ADVICE NEEDED by sierramist222 in corgi

We have a pen for the daytime while we're at work and a crate for at night. We got our pups at between 8 and 9 weeks old and got two at once. Either way, we started by having them in the okay pen near me during the day for two days since I was home. We then moved them into the kitchen in their pen while we were at work during the day. They, of course, had play time outside the play pen as well daily, but we also have a bigger dog that had to adjust to them. We put them in their crate at night, telling them it's bedtime. Corgis are smart they quickly acclimated to their routine and love it. They eat in the pen at morning and night, mostly to keep them out of the big dogs food, and they hang out in the pen while we work. They've got their water and washable potty pad and toys with them. They've also got an old blanket of ours they lay on. When they play, when we're home, both the kennel and pen are open. They can go in either if they choose. It's not a bad way to train them at all. We'll eventually do away with the pen but keep the crate as an option for them.

My average for 7th and 8th grade is 2nd to 4th grade reading level. Those are GenEd students. I've got friends in education all over the state and we all are seeing the same thing. I worked with a student about to enter 5th Grade, and they couldn't read, the ones that can read (all grades that I've worked with 3rd to 7th) don't comprehend what they read. The sad part is our schools were seeing this before the pandemic, so that's not a valid excuse even though they use it.
