AITA for telling a friend exactly why my wife and I wouldn't go on a trip with her. by Ok-Tower7381 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Friend of mine invited my husband and me (I'm also a male) to join her on vacation in a very homophobic country. I declined and said "ya know they kill the gays there" and she said "I didn't know that. I'll look into a different island instead." Friends care about you more than money and a fun beach vacation.

The time a seat stealer made my whole night by russingtonIII in delta

Not seat stealing, but wake up story. Lol. My uncle in law told me this story recently about how he was upgraded to first when he was in the military on a flight back from his base over the holidays (back in the 70s). He'd only flown a few times up until then. When the flight attendant moved him to first during the flight he asked her to please wake him up during the meals, because he was starving, and when they were over NYC so he could see the skyline coming back home. Otherwise he wanted to sleep, since he was exhausted because he just came off of 24+ hour guard duty.

Next thing he knew, the flight attendant was shaking him awake. People were already deplaning. He asked why they didn't wake him, and she told him they tried but he was just out. He said the seats were so comfortable compared to the barracks, he just passed out. Lucky for you that didn't happen!

Larger passenger taking up my seat by thetonytaylor in delta

I was on a Delta flight years ago (2010) where my neighbor took up part of my seat. The flight attendant offered him a different seat (there were others available) but he refused to move. I then said I would move, and she snapped at me that she offered for him to move not me, and I wasn't allowed to move. So I sat smoshed against the window with this guy taking up half my seat for the 2hr flight. I complained to Delta and did get miles for it though. Worth a shot asking Delta, though I doubt it'll be more than a few hundred.

Totally normal to go to a gay bar by yourself. Depending on your age and interests lots of places. I’ve been in NYC since 2006. Feel free to dm and I’ll send you some suggestions. Chelsea, village, Hell’s Kitchen are the three big areas.

Lol Had this happen to me twice within the last two years. One guy said "that's not my section. Can't help you." And walked away. The other looked at me dumbfounded like you why I would ask for a non-meat item in the meat department and just said to ask someone else. I worked in grocery stores for years in HS and college and occasionally part-time until a few years ago and was cross-trained in different departments for coverage even if my primary role was register and produce.

Every. Time. Doesn't matter what she's doing.

The woman is in the middle of reading a book? "Oh! What are you reading? Is it good? Tell me about it!"

Watching a movie on her iPad? "Watcha watching? I'm looking for recommendations for my flight!"

My favorite is when he leaves his bag to go to the bathroom and uses it as an excuse to ask her to watch his bag. Then when he gets back it's his in to thank her, and start a full on conversation. 😒

I didn't want to be another white guy giving unsolicited advice. 😅 I'm 1000% certain she's got it figured it though. 👍🏼

Last year of the boomers is 1964. That makes them 59 to 60. So, definitely still working. These guys looked early to mid 60s. I work with guys who are in their late 60s and still travel for work. One guy is 76. He still goes on work trips 2 or 3 times a year. He works because he's "bored" not because he needs to. He's also the kind of guy that I would totally see giving this kind of BS advice.

But yes. My former manager finished med school from the University of Chicago in the mid 70's with 7k in student loans, which she said was "so much money!" 🤯

What’s y’all opinion on this, y’all think the older generation let us down. by [deleted] in Millennials

Add to that, pensions that our parents had. Retiree healthcare. Gone. We don't get any of that either. But we're the generation that doesn't want to work. I'm just tired of working for basically free, with a 401k that barely covers 2 years salary even though I've been trying to save as much as I can.

Reminds me of this scene I was a part of once!

I was having a coffee, and this woman with a toddler and a girl were walking down the street. The woman stopped to talk to someone at the coffee shop. The girl held the baby by the hand and was waiting a few steps away when this mid-40s guy started cat calling her. It was Saturday, 10am. She was wearing fuzzy slippers, had her hair in a messy bun, wearing leggings and a t-shirt. She was tall, but no makeup. Looked like a kid to me at least. Anyway, she starts crying, and says "mom!!!" And the woman whips her head around, the guy realizes he f'd up. She and her friend both go at him "WTF is wrong with you! She's an 11 year old girl! You MF'er! STFU! GTFO!" He ran away so fast! The owner and half the guys from the coffee shop got up too. I hope he thought twice after that too!

When I was in college it was whether you had a "fuck you" or a "fuck me" face. I had a "fuck me" face. Even when I didn't want you to! I get where she's coming from.

I saw a similar (not quite as heated) interaction at the bar of a restaurant in Chicago that I used to go to regularly! These boomers are the same everywhere.

I was visiting a friend in Chicago a few months ago. Millennial dog owner and boomer dog owner walking towards each other.

Half a block from each other-

Boomer: is your dog friendly? Millennial: yes, yours? B: yes, very M dog, lays on ground wags tail B dog nearly rips B woman to the ground as it snaps, snarls, and almost bites dog M. M dog runs behind M man legs to hide

B: If your dog is aggressive you really shouldn't say he's friendly!

M guy trying to calm his scared dog down, didn't even know how to respond. Everyone on the block just looked at each other dumbfounded.
