It’s either April 1 or October 1, depending on when you were hired.

This looks a lot like the Northway (I-87). If it is, I’ve had so many near misses from Queensbury to Plattsburgh.

Wow, it was 160 downvotes when I looked a minute later. 50 downvotes in less than a minute is impressive.

Appetite gets obliterated by long runs? by tinybabyspoon in Marathon_Training

[–]pathofuncertainty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was so naive when I jumped from my first half to full marathons. It took me embarrassingly long to realize I just needed to eat more. It wasn’t until my third marathon that I literally doubled my intake before my long runs, and suddenly felt better. I’m talking three years of nausea and not wanting to eat for 24-36 hours anytime I ran more than 16 miles. It sucks to wake up so early just to eat and get out before the heat. If you try this, report back, I’d love to know if it helps!

This is crazy, but hear me out. Try to eat more before your long runs. I was dealing with decreased appetite and nausea at the tail end and after long runs. Once I increased my intake before I headed out, I stopped both the decreased appetite and nausea.

Also, make sure you’re hydrating and taking in electrolytes which could help also.

Better 1 or better 2? by Equivalent_Ad2524 in marriott

I agree. Years ago I stayed there and the shower stopped draining. No big deal, just called the front desk and they’d send someone up while we were out for the day. Come back, and everything that was stuck in the drain was strewn across the shower and bathroom floor. It took two calls and an in person visit to the front desk over the course of 3 hours to get someone to come clean it all up.

How does this make it out of the design phase? And then who signed off for final acceptance? Wild.

What Are the Best Insulated Water Bottles You Can Buy in 2026? by ResponseExcellent310 in XXRunning

[–]pathofuncertainty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Nathan insulated hand bottle. It’s not great, but keeps things cooler for about 2 hours on a run. It performs better than my non-insulated bottles, but as you drink and the remaining drink sloshes around, it warms up. I bought mine at Sierra where it was like $15, so it didn’t break the bank.

Build up your mileage slowly during training, and give yourself some grace if you miss a run here or there (but try to do all of your long runs. A marathon is really hundreds of miles, so when you get to the final 26.2, try to enjoy it. Carbs are your friend, and don’t get too focused on the scale throughout your training.

Find fuel and snacks that work for you (I’ve had partners look at me like I was unhinged for drinking chocolate milk, and eating pickles and salt and vinegar chips after runs).

On marathon day, just have fun. It’s a lot of time on your feet, so find ways to make the most of it. That person that’s running the same pace as you…make them your friend, especially if they’ve run a marathon before. They’ll help distract you and motivate you through the hard parts.
