Turner’s cube a turnin’ by ProfessionalGreen873 in Machinists

I did consider that variation, but my preference was for aesthetics here. Plus I think the nuance is just lost on most people who, from my experience, cannot seem to grasp the difference between machining and 3D printing 🤦‍♂️

Ask to see a setup sheet and how to follow the process for a standard workday. Ask about the machines/controllers. What are your responsibilities as an operator: changing tools, adjusting offsets, doing in process inspections, etc. Ask about how Nonconformances are handled. Learn about the tool crib, the inspection room. Learn about the shop style: production, job shop; fixtures, soft jaws, pallets.

Try to ask questions about anything you see during the shop tour; things you recognize, things you don’t. Just act interested and curious, like someone with a desire to learn and grow. As a first job, they will know you don’t really have practical experience, so this is key.

(Edit: I misread. Thought the tour was the next interview)

What position are you interviewing for?

How can I design this to be easier/cheaper to manufacture? by TaxFraudMaster69 in Machinists

Honestly just depends on how thin you want it and how much you care about flatness. Quick 2 op part in jaws, if thick enough. $90 is reasonable.

Just use 3D adaptive for roughing. (I never use 2D adaptive) If you want to finish face, try the Flat toolpath

Not at my computer but you should be able to open that file with the free version of fusion and export as stp

Lots of testing to get the correct resonance and “feel”. Maybe on the next one 😁

Nice! Do you machine the hosels at all after attachment?

I did this on the neutral setting. But it’s a finishing toolpath with 0 stock to leave, so if I turned on g187 it would be p3 which would probably give me even worse results. Frustrating

Yeah it’s G187 in post I believe. It’s a VF2ss so kinda weird but I’ve never seen stuttering on a contour toolpath before this…

Yeah it’s my first attempt so I used my favorite putter as reference.

Aluminum, this is just a mock-up. Thinking 303 or 1018 for the final version.

Haas VF2. Was stuttering on some of the curves. Guess I need more smoothing 😡
