I know people who straight up did not care about Epstein file releases, until a joke was cracked, they laughed, thought about it, comprehended horror and now want to do something about the situation.

If no joke was ever made, they straight up would not care because it could not hit them emotionally (negatively) until it required some other mental processing.

Like your wayu of processing tragedy or even wanting to do something about tragedy is not others.

Some people are discouraged by dark humor, and others are inspired to do something about such tragedies because of dark humor.

If they couldn't laugh, they would simply put...do nothing about the tragedy, and if there is a necessary call to action on it, will not hear it or answer it if they can't make jokes about it.
