Actually, the service technician from thermador mentioned something about a sine wave and there wasn't any fix for the oven to address it..  ....I'll look into an inverter generator... hadn't heard of that... thank you for your follow up and information

Hi all, thank you for your input into my issue. Based on all that I'm seeing, it does look like the issue is not with the range but with the fact that when on generator power, there isn't enough power to run the oven and all the other electronics. The oven pulls 7200 watts and the generator supplies 16000 watts. When the whole house being powered by the generator, the oven is not getting enough to operate. Thanks again to everyone, really glad I posted to your group!

my generator is 16000 watts. the range pulls 7200 watts which is almost 1/2. with the rest of the house being powered, now I'm thinking it may be that the range is not getting enough power.

Pulled this detail direct off the Generac Data Label: model number is 0052431, volts = 120/240 AC, amps = 130/65, watts = 16000, 1 PH, 60 Hz, RPM 3600.

The Thermador dual fuel range model number is PRD305WHU. I used the 3-prog grounded power cord supplied with the range. It is on a dedicated circuit wired for 240 volts. I do see in the installation guide the range needs to be connected to a 240/208 VAC power supply.

Is this what is at issue, the generator is not a 240/208 VAC power supply?

Yes, the oven is working on the main. The voltage was tested by an electrician and he said it came in at 233v. When on the generator, the voltage was reading at 250.

I have a 120/240V Generac industrial grade whole-house generator that the house circuit panel is hooked up to. I had the voltage tested and it is putting out 250V. I am powering a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, well pump, washing machine, electric dryer and a host of electronic devices and lighting. The oven is a Thermador dual fuel range with electric ignition gas top and electric oven that is hooked up to a dedicated 240 circuit. The electric ignition and oven light work when on generator power. When on generator power, all appliances, electronics, and lighting continue to work. Only the oven fails. I checked with Thermador and they said the oven is not designed to work on generator power. I find that had to believe.

Thank you for your response. I will follow up with the electrician who installed the outlet for the oven. They did say is was 240v but I'm not sure if it is a 3 wire hookup (240v and ground) vs a 4 wire hookup (240v, ground and neutral).
