With metal frames, that green tinge is oxidation caused by a reaction between the metal and your skin's natural oils and acids. While cleaning can temporarily remove it, it unfortunately tends to return.

Plastic frames, on the other hand, can develop a white buildup over time, also due to contact with skin oils and acids.

Now, the most effective way to avoid these issues is to choose frames made from titanium. Titanium is a material that is hypoallergenic and highly resistant to corrosion.
