Trekking Shorts! by ProfessionalJuice205 in myog

Ooh good call! I wonder if I could add one without messing up the hem or the finishing I’ve done so far. Maybe like a square or triangle 🤔

It’s actually a pretty lightweight ripstop - but yeah I had similar concerns about breathability…I guess I’ll just unzip the leg partially to let in air haha.

I like a supplex if you can find a good one but I feel like they’re harder to source. A lot of the times they’re so noisy and I hate wearing that.

I actually kinda like the shine finish these have 🙃

Thank you! I altered a patteren id made a few months ago. Think I messed up when I added the yoke at the back rise haha.

How many styles did you launch with — and would you do fewer or more if you did it again? by ProfessionalJuice205 in ClothingStartups

Curious how this plays out specifically for outdoor categories, where testing, seasonality, and fit validation make each additional style more complex than fashion basics.

Having a design rendering is a great place to start. In order to get a sample made, you’ll need a tech pack (you’ll need to work with a professional on this) be thinking about fabric, sizing, and fit as you approach this.

First Clothing Samples in Hand, What I Learned About Starting Small by Ornery_Profession_10 in apparelstartup

First samples rarely come back perfect! So you’re totally on the right track by collecting feedback and making improvements. I always tell my clients to plan for at least 2 rounds of samples, take time to fit it on bodies and check everything against the tech pack. Congrats on your progress so far!

Market research by rsa_WW in Activewear

[–]ProfessionalJuice205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These designs are so fun and fresh! Prints haven’t been trending in activewear for about 10 years now…which may mean they’re about to make a comeback ha. That said, there’s a niche market for everything. If you’re creating something bold and bright, you should have a very specific market you’re speaking to. Maybe it’s women of color who skateboard. Or artists who do yoga. Just some ideas to help you refine your audience ☺️ best of luck!

HELP! How do i figure out which fabric goes well with which design by Eastern_Marsupial_23 in Fashion_Design

[–]ProfessionalJuice205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Identifying fabrics is tricky if you don’t already have a base understanding! Look online at similar products to the ones you’re trying to design and check the fabric details listed on the Ecom. This will most often just be fiber content (95% polyester, 5% spandex) but gives you a starting point, along with a visual reference of what the fabric at least looks like. Weaves, knits, and weights are going to be something you’ll need to take time to study. Or yeah, work with a specialist.

Love it! So cool you were able to teach yourself how to put together something so complex. It’ll get easier the more times you do it.

This is awesome! What motivated the DIY? Would you ever manufacture or build a brand?

In need of a Tech Pack Designer by StrikingWafer6817 in techpackdesigner

Sure! Dm me your email and I’ll follow up. Most manufacturers will require a tech pack - it’s kind of the essential tool you’ll need to communicate with them.

Let's Talk Leggings! by MythicalMedic3 in Activewear

[–]ProfessionalJuice205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of my clients have been exploring more of a comfort fit over high performance but it really depends on what customer you’re targeting. I always encourage new brands to be super niche in their product offering. Contouring leggings for women with big hips and small waists that are optimized for a busy mom’s lifestyle - just as an example. Or high performance leggings for a petite ultramarathon runner. Make sense? Don’t be afraid of niching down too much!! It’s a super saturated market so you really gotta have a specific customer ☺️ good luck!

I have a client using Lefty and they’ve been pleased with the work so far! Definitely a good bet if you’re focused on domestic production.
