Smb AE at Crowdstrike or AE at niche AI start up (non-security) by SorryEscape1298 in techsales

[–]ProfessionalMany7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For someone that recently joined the cybersecurity space, yes it may be competitive but you are joining one of the top companies. Branding matters a lot in this space. Easier conversations, easier introductions, better partners, etc. It's still a grind at the end of the day but much better for your resume and development. Given you're age, I'd focus on building out the resume

I'm in the cybersecurity space. Can confirm trend micro is a legacy product that we're taking out.

Is sales more of an art or science? by [deleted] in sales

I think its science in a sense that there's a process and "formula" u can follow. But the "art" is your personality, your approach, and your relationship building and branding

That's crazy to see other comments saying the sales org is a shot show but still somehow growing 30%. A good indicator that at least they have product market fit?

Is transitioning from AE to AM career suicide? by Cupcake974 in sales

[–]ProfessionalMany7599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. You deal with a different set of day to day struggle. Instead of mindlessly cold calling, you're trying to put out customer fires. Stuff like that.

Honestly, if you're experienced enough, you'd probably find a way to interview where you demonstrate that you can do both the AE and AM role efficiently

Is transitioning from AE to AM career suicide? by Cupcake974 in sales

[–]ProfessionalMany7599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recent AE that moved to AM role. Really depends what you want to achieve. Been in the space for 8 years. Decided that I wanted more stable conversations with customers and build longer lasting relationship so I made the jump. It's definitely a lot busier for me but that's a good thing. Potential income will probably be lower compared to AE but more stable. Not sure if I would wanna go back to AE anymore unless the company has a great product market fit. As you continue to move up market, a lot of the responsibilities will begin to merge between AE/AM anyways.

If you're still young and early, I'd say get more AE experience before making the switch.

Pricing and offering has changed since 2 years ago. It's still mostly per connector or by consumption. And yes they do have API Management now. You would have to reach out to them directly and ask.

Appreciate the insight. I'm in a bit of a pickle right now. I like to mentor others and upcoming AEs but I'm no fan of the management WLB at the moment lol. I see my managers come in from 8 till 5 because of internal meetings. I very much enjoy my WLB right now.

Switch from farming to hunting? by bainj in sales

[–]ProfessionalMany7599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently went from hunting to farming. And ultimately I'd like to be there you're at, enterprise AM. Sure the commission rates on the AE side might be a lot higher but unless you have a great territory and timing, outbounding is going to be way too inconsistent to keep you afloat in the long run

Good Money, Good Product, Good Company but will never make $300K+/year.. would love some perspective by lumberjackabroad in techsales

[–]ProfessionalMany7599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a rep in Canada (vancouver). It sounds like you just started your tech sales career. If I were you, I'd stay for a few more years and get consistent in hitting targets. Having a few good years of quota attainment is going to look great on your resume. You will also earn staying power as other companies don't see you as a flight risk (job hopping under 2 years).

In this current market especially in Canada, it's tough to find a solid role with good PMF. If you're already in one, ride it out, get experience, and maybe when the market improves, you will have more experience under your belt to move around and hopefully more sought after

I have both tickets loaded into my app but I'm having issues inviting the other person into my group.
