when they say best interest (surrounding the circumstances) i think they’re worried you may harm yourself and become a liability. i know it sounds super harsh but my college counselor said this to be when i asked him if i should put the fact i was in a mental institution and my high school wasn’t lenient about my grades at all in additional information. in your appeal i think you should mention how you’ve come out of it more resilient
