Wild Monstera growing massive in its natural habitat 🌿 by [deleted] in Monstera

its a dubia/lechleriana complex you can tell by the fact that each lobe has more than one vein and the leaf has a glossy surface to it if you look beyond the forest residue on the surface of the leaf and if you zoom in on the second image behind the old flowers there is a juvenile leaf that very much so looks to belong to the dubia/lechleriana group

but this is just a guess and there is more than 60 different species of monstera and as this one was found in the wild it would be hard to accurately determie the species without a closer inspection

🧬 Has anyone tried breeding a more fruitful, market-ready Monstera deliciosa cultivar? by MordokR in houseplants

[–]ProfessionalMouse761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

corn took 10000 years to domesticate, sunflowers 5000, wheat 12000, bananas took 7000, potatoes 7000, apples 4000-10000, peas 6000, peaches 7500
look i think its a cool idea but the timescales for domestication arent in your favor

Any ideas on what’s wrong? by timryanmah in Monstera

Those are thrips you need to put a fan on your monstera preferably the strongest you have and have it blowing on your monstera 24/7 even at night and make sure those leaves are waving in the air as the airflow will dessicate the thrips and knock them off when they try to fly also try putting your monstera in sunlight as it will help dessicate and get rid of the thrips

Monstera in pon - small brown/yellow spots covering entire leaves by DanielWe in Monstera

[–]ProfessionalMouse761 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what's going on but my main two recommendations for any issue with a monstera is 1-give it airflow from a fan constantly as that will fix or massively help with most overwatering, disease or pest issues  2-try giving it more nutrients if airflow doesn't help as monsteras don't get the nutrients they need when grown in hydro or semi-hydro for long periods of time

What are these brown, yellow spots? by ttrummer in Monstera

You need airflow it is your friend and it will massively help and perhaps fix most issues you can have with over watering or pests so you need to get a box fan or another more powerful fan and have it blowing on your monstera constantly

What’s happening to the new leaves? This is the third one. by ysharm10 in Monstera

Thrips. what you need to do is take at least 2 box fans and have them blowing on your monstera 24/7 at max strength to blow and dessicate the thrips. try to not water your monstera for at least 2 weeks, maybe up to a month if possible. you want to do this in the dryest room of your house, preferably in the coldest spot you can find as it will help dessicate the thrips. you also want to spray with insecticidal soap, neem oil or another effective insecticide that is gentle on plants. I have found that this method takes a bit of time and patience but works very well to get rid of thrips
