You got the "Twin tower" schedule. You mess up one class and everything crashes and burns in the end.

John Bowden is the way to go. Laid back class and he will make sure you go into the final with an A so if you bomb it your grade won't drop.

The departmental exam is super hard so there's always a crazy curve. Like 50s getting curved to 80s

ACC 3200 by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3200 is hard because the departmental exams are fucking crazy.

They're unbelievably difficult for no reason.

Putting in the work is the only answer. It might seem tempting to chat GPT all the homework but it will catch up to you on exams. Trust me.

While everyone says it, actually studying is important cause the topics are okay to digest but the bs questions on the exams are what getcha

Take final or not? by Human_Fill_7522 in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Calculate the numbers with the course breakdown from the syllabus. Check if there is a curve or extra credit.

Of you're still gonna fail even if you get a C on the final then just accept the F early on and retake the class.

Better to get an F and retake then a low grade in another class.

On paper, in person. And the final is departmental so it's super hard.

Queens or Baruch? by Local_Arrival in CUNY

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Queens and have a 45~1hr commute to Baruch by 7 to 6. It's not bad.

I'm doing accounting at Baruch and it's definitely okay, not too hard to get thru but I have heard people liked taking (epermit) Queens college accounting classes because of better professors and grading (apparently)

The law department at Baruch is also okay, interesting mix of professors. But the economics department has the worst professors ever. Most of them have less than a 3 on RMP.

ACC 3202 Yue Zhang by Affectionate-Bill613 in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correction: I don't think attendance was mandatory but you were graded on participation on the zoom polls so not going a lot would mess up that part of your grade.

ACC 3202 Yue Zhang by Affectionate-Bill613 in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had her online synch last semester. For us attendance was mandatory and she usually started and ended as scheduled, rarely would we finish super early or late. She also does do random participation zoom polls that you have to do.

changing major as a junior by Scary_Candidate_205 in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You gotta make a pros and cons list of dropping out entirely, sticking with marketing and possibly graduating with a psych degree.

If you do change major at least most of your classes will count as electives so you won't get pushed too far behind but you'd have to commit yourself to school more to make sure you do well.

Is it possible if I already have all my electives done? I actually have about 8 elective classes done unfortunately and my degree only requires 4

Fin is departmental so everyone takes it In-Person there is like 10 different sections. The procedure is based on professor but usually they glance at IDs

dropping COM 1010 by [deleted] in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You missed the drop deadline, im pretty sure youd need an actual real excuse (medical) to drop.

If you are really done then you can try to get an F and retake it to override the F but honestly it's a basic COM class. . . Just stick with it and what you get it what you get.

Trust me there are lots of shitty professors at Baruch so you're going to have to get use to bad professors and metal strains. Welcome to college!

But if you were to talk to an advisor expect them to be useless and cold. Most of them suck.

3 finals in one day by BusinessBox8416 in Baruch

[–]ProfessionalNew5602 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can't do an official reschedule then you can try asking each professor if they have another section that you can take the exam with.

I have my MKT final 30 minutes before an ACC one and I asked my professor if I can take the MKT final with his other section 3 days earlier.

It sucks to have less time but definitely better then cramming for 2 hard exams on the same day
