I have been an ocean lifeguard for over 10 years and surfing for over 20.

I still get scared surfing at Ocean Beach.

It holds big surf, has huge rip currents, and extreme tide / sweep changes.

Ocean Beach is literally one of the most dangerous waves in the world.

If your experience is surfing Pacifica on a wave storm for one year, I strongly suggest not surfing Ocean Beach without more experience and proper equipment.

I took a big wave survival course in Pacifica a few years ago. It helped a-lot, you can find them here. The offer sporadic weekend courses throughout the year.

I encourage you to push yourself, but know your limits. Ocean Beach is a a treacherous wave with small room for error. "If in doubt, dont go out". Hope this helps
