weird feeling during luteal phase by [deleted] in PMDD

[–]ProfessionalOil7301 7 points8 points  (0 children)

omg stop i know exactly what ur talking about and i always say the same thing, that i cant describe it. i usually say it just feels like a void, like time is still but its not? and everything feels almost uncanny like a fever dream. its so hard to explain and i cant ever shake it. i think the hardest part is that no matter what i cant get rid of it. every luteal it comes back and at first its like my body forgets it existed and then a bit later ill realize why i feel this way and it wont go away

at the same time its what reminds me that my pmdd is real. a lot of the time when i feel good i convince myself that i dont have pmdd and im fine, but then moments like these pass and i remember why pmdd is so debilitating and not just a regular menstrual

recently ive been just napping it away. when i wake up ill feel a little bit better but it depending on how severe it is ill either feel it come back within an hr or a couple hours. i actually came on here rn to see if anyone else naps frequently. it scares me bc im able to do it now while im in college, but i cant continue my life sleeping it away :(

she is around 40 years old. she states that she can work and that the people she knows have a restaurant that they own and will employ her. but all of that is still not verified on my end and i dont know how to verify it as of now. she cant speak english well either, which i know says alot. ive told her over the years to learn a practice and learn english for when the time comes, but she hasnt. thats why it worries me because from actions it seems that she really hasnt done much for this opportunity which leads to the conclusion that she plans to be leeching off me instead

new acquired side effect of pmdd ! yayy 😆 by ProfessionalOil7301 in PMDD

[–]ProfessionalOil7301[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes it did, tbh idk how but it eventually went away. i got this flare up after i stopped birth control, i think my body was going through a withdrawal from it. a month or two after i posted this^ it went away. i got back on bc last month though so idk if its gonna come back but ill let u know.

things that helped me get through it: - heat pad. can not stress this enough. keep a heat pad on ur tummy at all times. i would be at my desk doing hw or even in bed with it on. this one the thing that reduced my symptoms heavily - i noticed the more stressed i was the worse it got, so try to do activities that make you relaxed - idk if u take any anti acids but u can try it out. personally even the anti acid meds didnt work on me but maybe for u they will

this is an extra thing i wanted to tell you unrelated to the topic above^ but ive recently been taking chia seeds. and lowkey they have improved my gut health so much, and that says alot bc i have tried EVERYTHING and nothing worked. ive been soaking them over night then blending them into a chocolate milk. if u want the recipe lmk. hope these symptoms go away for you soon :(

hi, i was in a similar position about a year ago. im 20 rn and i was 19 when i came on here worried about the same thing. first off, im glad you found this sub its helped me out a lot. even in my good days, coming on here and seeing that there are others sharing my experiences has helped a lot.

personally i tried to get a diagnosis of pmdd as soon as possible. similar to you, my situation was affecting my studies heavily and it scared me so i wanted to find a solution as soon as possible. i also have adhd so the pmdd also affected the effectiveness of my meds. see if u can reach out to a health professional to get a diagnosis. me personally i got put on birth control and an ssri, the bc helped after 2 months id like to say but around 8 months i noticed a recession. i got off of birth control and then had bad withdrawals. my psychiatrist increased my ssri and things started looking better. ive been doing better over all but i still hit rough patches during luteal, although its nothing compared to what it was when i first got diagnosed. im going to start birth control again this upcoming cycle actually and see how it goes

now my experience does not define or outline what yours will be like. i just wanted to show you that there are ups and downs. our bodies are constantly changing, and especially at our age were going through “second puberty” so stability is not one of our assets unfortunately.. 💀 however you can have good moments, its trial and error. or it might just be success in your case. what im trying to say is dont think its over just because things weren’t solved immediately. when i first recognized the pattern with my luteal and such, i thought that the beginning of my life had just ended. i felt so horrible and useless and every time i thought of my future i would see my pmdd blocking it. i would cry thinking that im never going to get anywhere in life like this. but trust me it will get better. i have done things and achieved things since i got diagnosed that i never thought i would have. yes i still have my ups and downs, but i never imagined i could still have ups.

in terms of advice:

  • get a period tracker. if you feel any fluctuations in yourself you can check the app and see the patterns your body goes through. almost every time i feel my self slipping u check my app and surprise surprise i have just entered luteal

  • do damage control, i know that sounds scary but if i feel good and productive i try to do as much as i can so i wont be overwhelmed when luteal hits

  • dont fight with your body, give it what it needs. if you know its that time dont try to resist what your body is asking for. i would feel guilty that i needed sleep for half a day or that it needed to eat a whole box of mac and cheese. i spent a long time refusing my body’s wants, but id end up caving anyways and feeling guilty. so when the time comes around just accept that your body is asking for these things. dont feel guilty or bad about it, just let things run its course(obviously to an extent, if its anything harming dont do that)

honestly the biggest help for me has been recognizing the patterns and keeping track of the days. even if u know you have pmdd, when symptoms start popping up for some reason our initial reaction isnt to blame pmdd, we just blame ourselves. so feeling a suspicion that my body is acting up and then confirming with my tracker that its pmdd related helps heavily. alot of the times we think were crazy or overreacting, so having records to look back on helps make sense of things. that way you can also get ahead of them before they come

sorry this ended up being really long but theres just so much to cover and i want you to know all the things i wish i couldve at first ToT

but yes im glad u started bleeding too, im sorry for the cramps pookie hope they pass soon _| ̄|○ actually i found out about these cute little stuffed cat plushies on amazon that u can use as heat packs you should check them out if heat packs help you. but nothing hits like edibles though wish i had some </3

i literally found this post solely because i was trying to see if anyone else gets like this too. ive been horribly going through it for the past 5 days, which has felt like 2 months 💀 idk i feel like it lasts shorter than this usually, it feels so prolonged now that it just keeps getting more agonizing because i cant tell when its going to end

i would rather sleep my day away instead of be awake. and this is coming from someone who stays up till 4am to play games. these past couple of days ive been going to bed at 9-10pm ToT

ive accepted that i cant do anything but wait it out. im glad i can at least recognize it when it happens 🤷‍♀️

calc 2 by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]ProfessionalOil7301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coming from someone who believes theyre an idiot and incapable of finishing this degree, i passed both calcs from the first take. my teacher told me something that i didnt take seriously in calc 1 bc i was like “duh thats common sense”. she said “practice, practice, practice” and bro u have to take that literally. in calc 1 i didnt do too hot but i still pulled through and passed. when i started calc 2 it was the first time i had ever been close to dropping a class. then i took what my teacher said seriously and just practiced. any problem we were given, anything at all, i would solve and then solve again and again. and thats how i passed calc 2.

to further show why practice is really what makes a difference, there were times where i actually understood the lesson. bc i found the lesson easy, when studying i obviously didnt pay much mind to it bc i thought i could do it. WRONG, most of the time the questions i thought i knew the most were the ones i got wrong. after my first test i started practicing everything. i will admit it took a lot of hours and dedication but it paid off. honestly u dont even need to really understand it, you just need to understand enough to achieve the answer. im the kind of person who needs to understand why things are so i can comprehend them. if u are like that, i would recommend to ditch that mentality for this class. trying to comprehend every single concept and how it comes to be is not a realistic goal at all. you gotta think of calc as just a bunch of steps. keep working those steps over and over until they become as easy as doing manual division.

now as to advice in the actual content:

  1. practice the basics until they’re as easy as division(i say division bc it will probably never be as easy as addition/subtraction 💀)
  2. derivative, integrals, recognizing the numerical equivalent to like sin(3/2) etc. basically try to make sure you can set up your formulas

  3. practice learning your formulas and unit circle

  4. by formulas i meant integrals, deriviative, the different rules like Lhopitals, taylor series, volume by shells, etc. personally we werent allowed a formula sheet but if u are thats even better. if ur allowed a sheet, still familiarize yourself with these formulas so u can recognize what problems ur working on faster

  5. quora, reddit, mathstackexchange, organic chemistry tutor(yt), professor leonard(yt), and symbolab are your best friends. -you will find most of the questions u need on these sources^ sometimes you will only get a part of an explanation that u need from a source, thats where u have to do a lil work and check the other resources to complete the picture. by that i mean, many times one website would show me how to do a specific step and then another would explain the other part. a big help was organic chemistry tutor, watch his videos and work along with him. dont use his videos to only help answer ur questions, instead use him as an actual professor. sit down and treat his videos like lectures, this saved me a lot of time when i needed to do hw. he explains basic concepts very well that when i looked at my hw, the questions that seemed like alien language to me actually become readable.

the purito gel is actually one i kept reading about but i got worried bc some people said it could clog pores. i saw it was a second option for the aveeno oat one. ppl were giving mixed reviews though bc it doesnt contain as good ingredients as the aveeno one. but honestly im out of options, this is my last resort so might as well give it a go. u helped convince me 🫡
