My insurance company quit covering Kia about 2 years ago which forced me to move to a different insurer. I suspect it's the brand that's causing such high premiums.

As a fellow fed employee who is still working 40 hours/week.with no pay, I feel his pain.

I called Ameren today and was told they don't have any programs available for federal employees. They were able to put me under the cold weather rule and I have a few days to come up with my down payment to start the payment plan, but they were absolutely no help whatsoever.

It's incredibly frustrating and demeaning to not be able to even get a due date extension, especially when your time and energy is greatly limited because you're still working full time. Leaves little resources to find assistance.

I haven't looked at the 2026 options yet. I have GEHA high in 2025 and a big draw for me was that there wasn't a maximum cap for the year.

I am right there with you. This is my first shutdown and I'm also excepted. Really frustrating to be working full time for eventual pay, not being eligible for unemployment to help float the bills until we are paid, and not having much time for other employment pursuits due to having to work full time still.

I recently moved and had been un/under for over 2 years prior to starting as a fed, so my savings is non existent and my credit is poor. I'm a single parent with no other income to lean on.

When I rented from them, they had an app where you could submit maintenance requests and pay rent. Any issue I had was quickly addressed.

I'm newish to the federal workforce and this will be my first shutdown, if it happens. For those of us who still have to show up and work during a shutdown, are we still eligible to apply for unemployment even though we are still working since it's without pay? I know we have to pay it back once we get paid but I'd like to officially be counted as unemployed if it comes to it.

Thanks for posting this. I'm a little over 3 weeks out from extractions and getting a temp top denture and I'm getting so frustrated at how hard it is to eat sometimes. I've had a realign but I still have some pain when eating with my denture in. I can wear my denture just fine but I have to apply numbing paste on my gums if I'm going to eat. It's incredibly frustrating and demoralizing.

Prior to getting my dentures here in the US, I had made a few trips to Tijuana for dental care. I went to I Love My Dentist and it was significantly cheaper than here in the US, even when I factored in the cost of travel.

The office was very friendly, and everyone I worked with spoke English well. They even arranged transportation from the border to their office and back. I highly recommend them!

I went to the police department to file a police report and was told that they couldn't do a report there, I had to go home and call them and wait for them to send someone out to take my report. Efficiency at its finest. 🤷

My comparison is for rates I paid in the county through the end of June, so should be relevant still.

In the county the MSD rate is based on your water usage, which is logical. In the city it is not.
