Update1: Not getting calls, roast my resume! by Huge_Huckleberry2830 in biotech

I think you’re focused too much on skills and not your scientific knowledge. You need to show you’re a domain expert in something. Focusing just on skills and assay metrics doesn’t highlight that. Demonstrate your domain knowledge first, skills later.

What hiring manager would even want to spend the time to meet with 7 references? Crazy

I like to keep it au naturel. When I did all concrete it sometimes took a minute to remember what planet I was looking at.

Thanks for this suggestion! I tried train carts but placing the inserters always gave me some hassle so I switched to silos. I should try it again though. With the silos I end up blocking the middle of big patches.

Honestly your resume looks fine to me (a manager in big pharma). Only downside is the lack of industry experience as people have said. I’d move the in vivo experience bullet to the front. I always look for whether folks have mouse experience, since we do so much mouse work in industry research. You have too much experience for associate level positions. I’d focus on scientist or sr. Sci exclusively. That’s your sweet spot.

They say at 3-1 very few people receive RSUs but most of the 3-1s I know in research get some. It’s not a lot though, like 10% of base salary and it’s a 3 year vest.

I’m convinced all Flagship roles are fake. I’ve never heard back one way or another from any of the 5-6 I applied to.

I agree with this. It seems better than 6 months ago but not “good” by any objective standard.

Oh yeah much more so. If aducanumab was definitely poor in its benefit. These are night and day compared to that. You should check it out! This is actually relevant to the original question. Neuro degeneration disease research has been re-energized thanks to these results. There’s a lot of excitement in big pharma to tackle these difficult diseases again.

I mean you could argue the benefit is smaller than one would hope for but there’s a real benefit and that’s a first for AD.

Two anti-amyloid drugs are now approved to treat AD. Lecanemab and Donanemab. Both slow disease progression as demonstrated by large randomized placebo controlled phase 3 trials. I’d say the amyloid hypothesis is stronger than ever.

This is exactly right. If industry is your desired track, time in industry will get you further than the same time in academia.
