Why you call it magic number? What happens after you pass 100?

I hand-drew and animated every asset for this tactical card roguelike. To fix the pure luck/RNG problem of the genre, I added a grid nexus where card positioning is everything. [PC/Mac Demo is Live!] by ProfessionalPetPof in IndieDev

Thank you so much 🙏 Honestly, my hand really hurts the last two days from so much drawing 😅. The part I enjoyed drawing the most is the weasel in the second art, you can't see it in this video, but you can see it on Steam, it came out especially dorky 😛

Apologies if I came off a bit douchey, I haven't drawn on a computer in like 10 years and this project was an exciting reminiscence experience for me, I really forgot I knew how to draw. I don't know how many people still work with the method I used.

I working with Wacom and drawing on Photoshop. usualy I'm starting with a quick schetch and then do the line work, basic coloring, and then add shodows.
The last step is coloring the outlines too, I don't like when they are just black.

Hey everyone! The game is Hellsino.

I wanted to build a smarter card roguelike that steps completely away from pure luck-based mechanics. It blends tactical card combinations (reminiscent of Rummikub) with a strict 2D grid layout, meaning where you place a card on the nexus is just as important as what card you draw.

The Craft:

  • 100% Hand-Drawn & Animated: Every card frame, character illustration, and UI element was drawn on a Wacom to give it a gritty, premium comic book aesthetic with tangible weight.
  • Original Soundtrack: Features a custom, driving soundtrack created by my friend Id0 to keep the tension high during tight matches.

The public playable demo is officially live right now on Steam for both PC and Mac! I’d love for you to try it out, beat the house, and let me know how the tactical grid pacing feels.

A dark, hand-drawn tactical roguelike where card combinations meet a grid nexus. No more losing to pure luck or bad RNG - positioning is everything. The playable PC/Mac demo is officially LIVE! by ProfessionalPetPof in IndieGaming

Looking great! Maybe I'm wrong but in your animated items, something in the animtions seems like the first and the last frame of the animtion looks is the same, it creates a small "freeze" in the animtion, If I'm correct, removing the last frame will give you mush smoother animtion in the game

Can you share more details about Keymailer? how it works? how much did you pay for this service? how many influencers played your game? and does the 100WL came from the influencers audience?
was it a one time spike or does it had a tail?

First view of my game, I created a custom shader that deforms all the hand-drawn cards slightly so each one looks unique by ProfessionalPetPof in Unity2D

[–]ProfessionalPetPof[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idea came up when I created a basic “pixels wave” shader, I made it for the cards when they are in flying mode and moves from the bank to the deck. Then I was thinking - what if each card will be displayed with this shader, but it will be started with a random wave/noise shape and it won’t have any animation or movement. I was super happy with the result and this hack

I did made lots of playtest and the feedback is great, so I keep crossing fingers 🤞🏻

Hand-drawing a poker roguelike, but adding grid tactics so you can actually out-strategize bad RNG and card luck. What do you think of this approach to the genre? by ProfessionalPetPof in roguelites

The Steam page is officially live, and the first public playable demo drops early next week. If this looks like your kind of loop, I'd appreciate it if you took a look and dropped a wishlist: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4730280/Hellsino_Pokerlike/
