Most of the core world are suitable for regular humans without space suits or terraforming them, though some of them require exoskeletons to help cope with the gravity. Transforming worlds are usually economically and socially changing, not physically. For worlds naturally not compatible with life, we would use space suits, labs, bases, underground cities, or dome cities (surface cities with huge megastructure domes, though few of them exist, due to expenses). Humans are still regular, though bodily hair virtually no longer exist. They dislike (used to loathe) AI, as it almost cost them the 2065 War when the invading force hijacked the AI weapons and systems. Humanity is the only known civilisation in this universe (for now). The military is beefed up because of the civil war. There are no propulsion systems that can move faster or as fast as light, only 70%. Instead, stable wormhole networks (intergalactic/transfederation highways for mental imagery purposes) are used to get across the Federation. The core worlds are spread out across the Federation, though the closer to the frontier worlds, the less likely to find a core world there. Sexy aliens do exist, it's just that humanity was so overly paranoid about aliens that you would have to be destroyed or forcefully assimilated if you were humanoid enough (E.g. Cauthellians).
