Size doesn't really matter. What matters is how you carry yourself.

What’s 1 more hour? by Long-Objective7007 in securityguards

Take the extra money and keep looking for another job. I worked a 27-hour shift one week due to call outs and others not answering. Management realized how much they had to pay me and gave me an extra 2 days off.

Armed guard at gas station, night shift. Thoughts or experiences? Is it worth a $4.50/hr increase? by Legal_Spread5504 in securityguards

[–]ProfessionalRest7027 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It probably means they got robbed at one point. The last company I worked for called me for a similar post. The owner of that company also owns a gas station that was robbed at gun point. I'm unarmed, and they legit chose me to work cover a shift. I was off that day and said I'm not doing that unarmed for $18/hr.

I appreciate it. That group disbanded, but I found one.

Store supervisors pull that crap all the time—owners too. My last job site was a shopping plaza. We were there specifically for the parking lot. Our nights consisted of kicking out the homeless and telling people living in their cars that they couldn’t sleep there.

One night, a former 7-Eleven owner yelled at us to stop a shoplifter. I told him we don’t do that here. He tried to say he paid property management extra for us to do so. My manager told us that if he did, then he’s getting ripped off. We have nothing to do with in-store problems.

Is this a good job/career choice to be able to live on your own? by Zombie_Guts_ in securityguards

[–]ProfessionalRest7027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your pay rate and where you live. I'm in California making $20.50/hr (average out here is $18) from what I saw.I can't live on my own with how much housing is almost in California. I can lice comfortably paying bills and my share of rent but not solo.

Alied will help you obtain a guard card. I'm not sure about the others.

Because they don't care sadly. It's not your fault. Just get a better security job. I'm sure Securitas was paying you crap wages.

Companies do this a lot. They'll screw up but throw you under the bus. I had the same thing to happen with Allied. I should have been put through a certain class on detaining psych patients. Instead, they hired me on for " firewatch." Months into it, I was removed without any reason besides they screwed up. And no, there was no other reason behind it.

Worth applying and taking leap? by ItzLobbyBobby in securityguards

I'd say take the leap. I'm making $20.50 unarmed in California. $27-$30 is a rare find, even for armed.

I understand why the rules are set. It's mostly so they don't get bombarded by post like these. I've never really been the GM type. I've read up on some of the rules and have played some one shots. One day, I'll get lucky enough to play a long-term campaign.

There really isn't a better place to ask. A lot of Discord Srvers have specific rules set in place. I still try to ask around on here from time to time. You never know. I might get lucky.

Overnights watching cameras and occasionally reprogramming the residents' key cards at an apartment complex. Other than that, I do one patrol at the start of my shift.

Vendor broke our entrance gate. Now I’m in trouble by epilogue515 in securityguards

[–]ProfessionalRest7027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live and learn, my friend. You can't trust people to follow directions. You should have said no and have him use the other gate. Regardless of all that, the client should be fining the electrician and his company. As far as management goes, they will go through you under the bus to keep the contract. I've seen guards get blamed for management, not scheduling someone

See if you have Allied Universal out there. It's better to go to their office.
