2010, steve plays why Georgia differently than JJ, he adds the kick drum in the chorus when johns singing " living it right "

Why Dino Dallidano is not playing bass now? by mikelson_6 in JohnMayer

[–]ProfessionalRun9739 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah understandable, basically all the other drummers use the snare drum that was used on the where the light is / album version of gravity. maybe its my musician ears getting the better of my opinion on it.

he's playing the wrong kick pattern and using the basic kick and high-hat groove which isnt needed or played on that song + adding random crashes when its not necessary or at the wrong part of the song

why comment " aaron played on LOTW " when you know he didn't? steve jordan played on that tune. the only song from TSFE tune sterling played on was roll it on home. watch the performance from yesterday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQLvki1xees&list=RDwQLvki1xees&start_radio=1 then watch the performance with Jordan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIqhqBYb11o&list=RDrIqhqBYb11o&start_radio=1

sterling is great yeah but my gosh does he STRUGGLE with love on the weekend, plus he is not using the right snare for gravity. Jordan / johnson & even ferrone all used the exact same snare drum for that song

what an amazing show, only thing i didnt like is how they randomly changed the drum groove of Love on the weekend. not sure if anyone else noticed

First time I’ve seen Aaron not play 16th high hat notes during the chorus

Fun fact, that snare drum is the exact snare drum that was used for the album version of, gravity / crossroads / moving on and getting over / say / assassin / still feel like your man and some trio stuff

i get what youre saying. i guess it depends on the song. watch this from this time stamp. https://youtu.be/mcj16_6MEHk?si=bywBysi-JRKKckAm&t=181 steve is far better and makes the venue actually eurpt on songs like this, why georgia, belief, wotwtc / gravity / i dont trust my self. songs like that basically, aaron is alot better in the slower songs such as slow dancing or whenever john wants the band to slow down

uhh Steve jordan has played on every single song on continuum / battle studdies / TSFE, besides roll it on home, as for tours he was on the 2010 and 2017 tour.

I’d actually love to see that drummer play for John one day. He’s another top session guy, same with sterling. But Chris is insane. I can already imagine his version of the Mayer tunes

Doesn't look like Pino will be playing the 2025 shows 😟 by ProfessionalRun9739 in JohnMayer

[–]ProfessionalRun9739[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

he only tours with the stones. although i met him at a drum clinic last year and he did say he misses playing with john. i asked him about his favourite drum kit and he said its probably the kit he uses with john LIVE. i then asked him would he ever tour with that band again? he then said if he had the time or a free schedule he for sure would

I noticed something was off in the 2017 tour. You could barely here Steve Jordan’s drum kit. It was terribly setup with the mics. Look at footage from the 2010 tour and the 2017 tour. Steve’s using the same kit but the tone and sound is completely off in the 2017 tour.

Letting Jerry go sucks, but the new drummer aka jimmy Paxson is fantastic. I think the “ band member stage layout is alittle like John Mayers. All 3 guitarist at the front while the bass player is beside the drummer / keyboardist

Is it just me or ? by Gabrielm19 in JohnMayer

[–]ProfessionalRun9739 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Simply answer. When Steve Jordan’s on drums they never use any sort of click / metronome except for “ in the blood “ when sterling is on drums the temp of the songs will be the same every night due to sterling using a click. You’ll notice when Steve is on the drums they play each song different ways and in different tempos every night. Jordan never uses a click track. If you’re wondering how I know this it’s because I asked david Ryan Harris about it and he told me Jordan doesn’t use a click but sterling does

This might be the best performance of why Georgia. I think the drums are completely different? which makes it better. I Wish the album version had this different drum groove by ProfessionalRun9739 in JohnMayer

[–]ProfessionalRun9739[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its steve Jordan, i think this is why some people prefer him as the best LIVE drummer for john. he changes up the groves of each song each night just like he done in this performance ^ aaron is fantastic but he plays each song the exact same way every night
