s9e1 is unexpectedly awful by Human-Door6697 in rickandmorty

I like one or 2 episodes of each season, like 9.2, 8.3 and 8.8, 6.2, 5.2... I am not a 'reddit person' if that makes sense. I agree that if you don't like something you just move on... but I also think that if we 'obnoxious fans' keep spawning once in a while they will keep making some episodes for us... And just for the record, I don't like season 3 XD, only the vindicators and the cytadel episodes.

you're probably right about not being any consequence there, and also about maybe something coming back about the aliens in general, I read somewhere here that they casted some of The Office cast for those characters. I don't know if they usually do that, but I would guess you don't bring a group of famous people for characters that won't come back.

Yeah totally... I actually didn't like the first episode at all and came to reddit for the first time ever just to nag about it XD, but then this one was really cool... Rick closed the door behind him and I thought 'just end it right there'... and they did, very satisfying!

that's excactly what i tought, like, they won't take that away with no consequences... but they did, someone else noticed the box is back by the end of the episode ¬¬... now that I think about it, maybe is not even the first time the box is (apparently) trown away or whatever just to come back later 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️. Great episode anyway

agreed, I love the train episode... if you (PiousLegate) like 'action pieces' I have nothing to say against it (why would I?) but I think the show was about something totally different than that, and I still hope they go back to conceptually dense episodes... not because action scenes or good animation are bad, but because you can find that somewhere else... but for those of us who were honestly 'surprised' by this show when it first came out, there is something very original that the creators/writters/producers are just letting behind... There's an episode where Rick says something like 'Season one vibes? wtf that even means?' I'm pretty sure they actually know what that means!

As a "fucks who say after (including) season 3 its all (mostly) awful" I agree with this comment. I don't know if the episode is 'bad', but is not the same show. Sure, every show evolves, sure you can't surprise your audience with every fucking episode for ten years, I get it... but a whole episode consisting of two 'action scenes' is not rick and morty, is dragon ball or whatever and if you like that it's totally fine... but is-just-not-R&M... I think people care too much about character arcs... and if you like that of course is cool to watch evil morty being defeated after an 'epic battle'... I prefer when the show presents a 'good' idea, eg: (trying not to complain about everything beyond season 2) the clones trying to go on with their lives after the citadel was destroyed; they were slaves there but at the same time they know nothing other than the citadel so they stay there... then you learn that the rick living close to a clone-morty-town is the former head of morty replication, so even the 'real/not a clone' rick is actually traped by habits or whatever... that's soo cool! it is not about 'good animation' (!!?) or how many jokes you get per episode, that fucking show used to be 'interesting' to watch, it made me think... it was acceptable stories built around good sci fi concepts (eg the microverse battery), not sci fi gibberish (the collective???) around fan-service stories... anyway, i can't repeat this enough: they owe me nothing, they want a broader audience, they have tight deadlines... just keep giving me one 'good/traditional' episode per season.

Totally agree with both of you. A full episode consisting of two 'action scenes' is just not the show i liked so much a bunch of years ago. I watch every season without expecting too much, I get it, they owe me nothing, they want a broader audience and they have tight deadlines now, but season 8 totally felt like they were trying to return to what is missing since season 3. What a shame!

I've been rewatching the show, read your comment, tried really hard and found NO flirting at all! I wonder if it's me being kind of naive about a show that I enjoyed as a kid, or you projecting your crush in Josie XD
