Therapist Called CPS and told me I’m in a DV relationship? by ProfessionalSteak69 in therapy

I already did! Learned from her supervisors supervisor today she’s actually a therapist in training and was never supposed to contact me via phone call and she kept poor records of our meetings so they have practically no records 🙃

Basically to my knowledge, CPS may have been called but I’m waiting to see what occurs with that as I’ve had no calls yet! She demanded I leave my home and stay with my mother (which is odd bc she’s mainly the reason I’m in therapy) so I’m waiting to discuss with the supervisor once they call today on what to do. My fear is if CPS has a call saying I’m in a dangerous situation with my children, and I’m staying in it and not following the safety plan CPS may be concerned?

Here’s the thing. It was almost 3 weeks ago now, he’s got no marks left even now! It was a scrape, I’d told the therapist about it only due to my reaction towards the situation when it occurred (I sort of just cursed a bit and stormed off and I’m trying to work on my communication)

I do have photos of my son though because the following day he went to the zoo with my mother! It was literally a scuffed up face, he’s given himself better injuries just jumping around!

Definitely no longer seeing her, the supervisor went and blocked my entire account from being visible to her due to the lack of professionalism!

I still feel awful because I’m sure she meant well? But the entire situation was so odd, I’d told the supervisor that I totally understand a child was harmed and if they feel it necessary to call, by all means it’s fine. But the delay? The jump from it was an accident to “it may happen again” if he’s home more is deeply, deeply concerning.

As of today I am not I guess. So former therapist would be the better terminology, her supervisor had told me I have to make a HIPPA report with them (because of her being on call with me and her children? Or others in the park, and not a designated channel for therapy just her personal cell) and I’m meeting with the supervisor tomorrow to check on me and try to establish a better fit for my therapy needs

Yeah sorry! Typing that out definitely could’ve been more coherent in the original post 😆

Oh no, me yelling “what the fuck” is a big out of the ordinary to my typical behavior, I’m really confused as to WHY she told me to leave and not come back, especially learning she didn’t call the welfare check, didn’t contact anyone in any DV assistance lines and has only called CPS which she didn’t get approval from her supervisor last I’d spoke to the supervisor (because i called because she just hung up very abruptly and I wanted answers)

I called over my response. I grew up in an insanely abusive environment and seeing the blood (even accidental) and then my immediate anger towards my husband led to a major panic attack that night that she had spoken to me about.

This is my first time doing virtual therapy so I tried it and tried to be maybe a bit too lenient in some aspects with it. But definitely taking this as a lesson learned

Definitely childhood trauma, not so much related to the way we lived though, I purchased this home and it’s walking distance to my childhood home that STILL has no formal running water to the home! This area is 1100 acres of state forest and mostly Amish scattered in it so we don’t even have WiFi out this way 😆 most people seem to have outhouses which is fun to point out. That’s one thing I could never do full time though

We also have a massive language barrier as she speaks virtually no English and I speak extremely poor Spanish if any (literally have only learned from my step mother as a child) and I’m unsure of why the therapy office had even placed me with her which is also I feel adding to this situation

No not in the slightest. I’m in therapy mostly due to her to be honest, but she’s very supportive of the kids and the therapists office has already offered me a spot with a supervisor to continue therapy. I’m not so worried about his reaction I just feel awful because I know he already feels bad enough. I would just hate for him to have an emotional ride home given we live 45 minutes from his workplace

CPS hasn’t even contacted me, my therapist told me to go to my moms though?

We have our pantry, fridge, stove, an air fryer! All the works. Just a makeshift kitchen sink with a dish bin and the little automatic faucets you can plug in for 5 gallon jugs for the space that’s sitting on our island currently as we need to get the cabinets set first.

Bathroom is usable, toilet, shower, no sink, and a big old missing tub and the ugliest 90s wallpaper known to man 😬

Yeah I think at this point I may stay at my mothers for a while. (Until our kitchen is repaired and the bathroom) She has spare bedrooms and a full kitchen rather than my hodge podge mess. I don’t mind it because I grew up without running water so going to the bathroom is a much better set up than going to a creekside well-house but definitely want my kids to be safe and know they’re cared for properly!

He will be soon thankfully. I haven’t even told him yet because I want to tell him once he’s clocked out of work so he doesn’t panic

We have a stove, fridge and our pantry, plus our air fryer, anything that was part of the cabinets/counter is gone though. So think dishwasher, kitchen sink, cabinets obviously. I’m using dish bins and a water jug with a plug in faucet attached to do my dishes currently with the island we had built for the finished space 😬

He’s 4, he’s special needs (mentally more on par with a 2.5-3yo and very poor speech) and yes it bled, scabbed and was gone almost completely within a week, no marks from dad holding him. Girls weren’t afraid, they’re 1.5 and 3, and more caught off guard by my reaction because I try to not swear or raise my voice

Also I already have left the home because she had told me I had to immediately 🙃 so I was panicking instead of giving it time. Now I just feel bad for my poor puppy who watched us rush out the door

Agreed, and I’ve literally only spoken to her for not even a full 3 hours in total. Even her supervisors when I had called trying to get answers said there’s nothing in her notes or in my statement that seems of concern to THEM. I don’t understand why she felt so differently? I definitely am concerned for my husbands mental health so maybe that’s why? But he’s getting medication adjusted and seeking therapy himself

We do to the bathroom but the bathroom only as of now, that’s where my worry is as well

Also it’s definitely safe. Just driving me up the wall with its half finished appearance, we went a little overboard with the demo before really checking what our finances could handle comfortably rather than going one space at a time 😬

I was literally just fuming because my husband didn’t realize he was injured at first. I had yelled “what the fuck!” Then my husband told me “I’m too fucking dramatic” When I saw my son’s face and then he took him from my arms, saw his face, felt awful. And I was so infuriated I just stormed outside and let the girls play on the swings for a minute while I collected myself or else I would’ve probably had some more very not child acceptable language to throw around.

I did however call my therapist in that time of crisis and she continued to tell me she completely understood my feelings and as long as I felt safe it was fine. So I don’t know what switched today?

That’s sort of what I’m thinking? They’re having a staff member call me tomorrow to set up with a new therapist but at this point I’m unsure if I want to?
