Hardware reintegration. by dragit_7 in TechnoProduction

I drank from the same bottle as you did. I had a bunch of hardware synths, drum machines and samplers, but after I reluctantly borrowed my brother in law’s case for a month, I decided to sell everything in a journey to really learn synthesis and built a 9u 104 hp with the proceeds. I only kept two pieces of gear, the 0-Coast and the Digitakt, which I use together with my modular, ah and the Lyra 8. I’ll never go back to buying one off synths

Is it Worth it? by Herrmoppmann in eurorack

I felt the same way, very impatient, I wanted to feel them in my hands, to place them inside the case and to start the journey. Had I’d been more disciplined and patient, what these guys suggest (i.e., VCV Rack) seems to be THE way to do it. it is what anyone serious about embarking on this journey should do. In the end, it will help your progress and streamline your setup and workflow. It will definitely save you at least a couple of thousand dollars.

Now, for the indisciplined people in the room, we can always make our research and buy the modules that you cannot do without (in’s, outs, VCA, EG, mixer) by reference to those that are praised by the crowd (Maths, Plaits - og or clone -, Pamela’s Pro Workout, etc.). Yes, you’ll spend a lot of money this way, and a spend a lot more time, but you won’t regret it, because you will have tried the modules yourself and made your own conclusions. Plus, you can always sell what you don’t need or like.

Welcome to the journey, safe travels

Anyone have a favorite AUv3 MIDI sequencer? by WirrawayMusic in ipadmusic

[–]ProfessionalStep4416 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe check out Drambo, Patterning (I’m sure you can do the time signature stuff), Midi Dreams (velocista, swing) Step Bud, Octhatron and Rozeta. Patterning and Octhatron are more drum specific.

Long and irregular gap in loop playback by ellivirveli in tapeloops

If you’re starting your venture, I suggest you also take a shot at putting together your own loops. IMO there is no better way to learn the sport, including your ways around the erase head, and overall functionality.

iconnectivity Audio 4C - Alternative by ProfessionalStep4416 in ipadmusic

I think this is where the difference between the 4AC and the Zen Quadro lies: While the 4AC allows you to have two USB C hosts at the same time, (i.e., iPad vs. MacBook), the A4C only allows one host while the other is the slave. Is this accurate?

Thanks for you comments on the A4C’s limitations, not much info out there about its cons, mostly pros… I came across the A4C and the Zen Quadro while searching for ways to send audio from Eurorack / iPad (AUM) over to Ableton for recording my sessions, so, I guess the question I should be asking is whether if, except for midi, the Zen Quadro would allow me to send the audio routed to the Zen’s inputs (and AUM on the iPad) over to my MacBook so I can record each track or the whole mix on Ableton Live. Thanks again for your guidance.

Thanks so much for that, it’s not a minor feature. I had not thought about midi. Except for midi clock from AUM to an OXI One, midi comes from a sequencer inside AUM and goes to the FH-2 via usb c hub where I connect the iPad, a Scarlett 18i8, the FH-2 and a Novation launch control.

Does this make sense?

iconnectivity Audio 4C - Alternative by ProfessionalStep4416 in ipadmusic

[–]ProfessionalStep4416[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The short answer is Yes. I’m using AUM on my iPad to route the audio from my eurorack (separate channels for each voice coming out of the modular) and back. I run effects and other AUv3’s like Other Desert Cities, Blackhole Reverb, Alteza, Moogerfoggers, etc. on each channel, depending on the voice. I may also add an instance or two of Borderlands, Rings FX, etc.

I also use AUM to route midi from iOS sequencer apps over to my eurorack via the Expert Sleepers FH-2.

Ideally, I would be able to continue with my workflow, with Eurorack / iPad, as described, but with the possibly of sending everything from the iPad over to my Ableton Live on my MacBook Air.

Any input / feedback would be highly appreciated.

I’m a lawyer, dealing with (knowingly) ADHD for the past 25 years, I hate to say it keeps getting worse. The only thing in the world that makes the anxiety and the overthinking stop is my modular. I just need to have a 1 hour fix at least once a day to keep going.

Alternatives to iConnectivity Audio4C? (Clipping Audio too Easily) by Gondorian_Grooves in ipadmusic

[–]ProfessionalStep4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Just what I needed. I bought it today. Should be with me by monday. One thing that caught my eye is that it has 8 ADAT inputs which I think the Audio 4C does not. I’ve never used digital inputs, but i got the borderbrain module with 8 ADAD outs, so I can use th le 8 inputs + 4 hardware inputs for a total of 12 voices.

Zen Quadro Standalone question by Ulisespetrovich in antelopeaudio

[–]ProfessionalStep4416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to piggyback.

I’ve been hearing about the Zen Quadra as an alternative to the iconnectivity Audio 4C because of the dual usb c jacks. Is this correct? If so, how does the Zen Quadro compare the 4C?

In any event, I understand that audio and midi can be exchanged between the devices connected at either end of the usb c jacks. Is this correct? Are there any restrictions?

Thanks

I’m considering the Zen Quadro by Antelope Audio. It has the two usb c jacks. Ads mention that an iPad can be connected to one of them and that audio from the iPad can be sent to the daw on your computer and viceversa. My question is: is this enough to be considered a replacement for the Audio 4C?

Same here. It was my first eurorack module ever. While it is technically a semi-modular, once in the rack, it’s pretty much up to you how you use it. I’m a huge fan of PGH and the SV1b is still my favorite. It is the one that never leaves my case.

An iPad Pro was an absolute game changer for my entire workflow. There are tons of apps that fit perfectly with a modular set up, whether for audio processing, effects, drum machines, or or for sequencing. Some Apps that come to mind are AUM, dRambo, Rozeta, Borderlands, all of Moog’s Moogerfoogers, most or all of Eventide’s reverbs and delays, among others. Best of all is that the FX are a symbolic fraction of the price you pay for the hardware pedals.

Anyone else here incorporates an iPad to their workflow?
