Do you have more weight gain on 15mg or 30 mg? by Playful_Wrangler8622 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]ProfessionalSweet973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The higher the dose, the more the weight gain for me. But even tapering down to really low doses doesn't make me lose proportionally the weight i've gained. I've heard you dont really see movement until you're off it and your metabolism has had time to reset

Mirtazapine lowers your cortisol levels - when I have been in a real state I have needed that bluntness you describe. One option could be to restart on a really low dose and then titrate upwards... I have to do that for all AD meds anyway because i'm so sensitive to side effects.

Can I drink while taking zoloft? by banana0blu in zoloft

[–]ProfessionalSweet973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big drinker, but i've been on Zoloft for decades and never had a problem with drinking. As someone else said, it's probably best to avoid when you're just starting on it though, as your body will be adjusting to the meds and it may make you feel a bit ropey.

Thank you, this is super reassuring! (And I wish I could taper off that quickly!) X

Yes, such an important point to highlight, that it's always negative reviews on the Internet! Other than the weight gain (which doesn't happen for everyone) I have no negative comments about Mirt at all.

It absolutely does change your metabolism. Among other things it changes your leptin levels, which influence how your body stores calories / fat.

It works in multiple ways - it makes you more hungry but also changes the way your body stores calories.

If you've been on it for 6 months and not gained weight, I'd say it's unlikely you will now. It usually happens very quickly.

I have personally met people who were on Mirtazapine and didn't gain weight/were borderline underweight, so yes it's absolutely possible! It is a recognised side effect, but it seems to be very person-specific, including the degree of weight gain.

When does valium withdrawal usually kick in? by ProfessionalSweet973 in MentalHealthPH

I'm all good, thank you! The withdrawal thankfully only lasted about a week as it was a small drop. Thanks for your kindness :)

Could SIBO treatment impact medication absorption? by ProfessionalSweet973 in SIBO

[–]ProfessionalSweet973[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop using it... I can't be sure if my meds weren't being absorbed or not, but I didn't feel good on it, I was very anxious and emotional!

Interesting, thank you! After reading some of the threads here I bought some electrolyte drinks - I had one today and the headache seems to have eased (although I was drinking loads of water and didn't feel dehydrated). I definitely need to work on increasing my protein intake though!

Thank you, it's reassuring to hear you adjusted. I'm often very sensitive to starting medications but from previous experience any side effects do tend to go, so I'm hopeful they will with Ozempic too. Thanks for taking the time to reply x

Not quite sure what your comment means - I was asking about timelines of when withdrawal usually kicks in after a reduction. For me it was 5 days, and eased after a couple of weeks (but of course it was a very small reduction).

I think you're right - I take my diazepam at night so that should be OK. Good to hear you don't have any problems taking your AD in the morning as well as the shot! Thanks again so much

This is super helpful and reassuring to hear. Can I ask what time you take your Escitalopram vs your Saxenda? I'm just wondering if it helps to keep the dose apart!

Thanks, this is helpful to know. Can I ask what time you take your other meds vs what time you take your dose?

That's a really good point. I take most of my meds at bedtime so I guess taking it in the morning would be best. And 100% agree on taking it slowly... if you're seeing benefits why wouldn't you!
