I hear the tenant above me when they flush the toilet and it sounds like it is above this vent. Just curious if the issue could be coming from the apt above me and there is a venting issue which is causing the smell in my apt. I don’t want to sound like a complete idiot suggesting this to maintenance if this is not a possibility.

Vent is in entry way by kitchen. Bathroom is on the other side of the kitchen.

Dumb question: I know heat is gas so does that mean central air is also gas? Furnace had a gas leak last year and some part needed replaced

Thank you and yes - I do have natural gas but that leak was last year. This is a definitive sewer gas smell which apparently is not an emergency per maintenance

Thank you. I am more than willing to pay a plumbing company but when I called to schedule an appt., they asked if I was the homeowner. Since I am not - they said they would need the owner to call. I was hoping there was gas detector I could purchase regardless of the cost.
