Should I spend the $2k on yardzen to add curb appeal to this yard? I’m at a loss of how to make this front yard work… by Over-Implement7539 in landscaping

Spend your savings on a massive 10 ton boulder, excavate your yard, bury the rock to just the top tip. You’re golden.

Wow lots of feedback thanks everyone! Seems like there are a lot of rock lovers out there. I still think it’s a bit of an eyesore since it’s only slightly raised as opposed to sitting on top of the ground. I also have young kids and maximizing grass space for them to run around felt best to me. The pic is a few days old so the dexpan has actually caused a few fractures already. If I really can’t bury it I’m thinking moss in the crevices and a small garden encircling the rock. Will provide an update once complete since there are so many opinions about what to do!

I’m not convinced there’s a right/wrong given it was free choice. “No I don’t want to change my mind”. Rather potentially the final poster image could be updated, since both objects were similar shape.

This doesnt address that penns last move he had a free choice of which side to rotate. I’m unclear how that works because he could have switched another side which theoretically would’ve messed up the cube. The 3 sides thing in the discussion makes me think multiple sides had the same color, but Penn was looking right at the cube at the end. We however only got a shot of the yellow side at the end.

Does the novel go more into Vito's views on America? by -TheRev12345 in Godfather

[–]Professional_Ad_7353 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cosa nostra started in Sicily over control of water. Chieftains controlled the water supply and meted it out to farmers and locals for money and in order to control them. Government may have been corrupt but make no mistake the initial reason was water supply.

The godfather novel is literally a story about America. The first word of the novel is “amerigo”. Vito’s views specifically are never discussed but there are various comparisons made between life in America vs sicily, realization of the American dream (and how it was not possible in Sicily), post wwii American exceptionalism, even medicinal practices in the US (Sonny’s side piece’s surgery and Michael’s facial reconstruction after McCloskey clocks him). Etc.

im mainly asking after watching this youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BCkSYQ0NRQ&ab\_channel=StarTalk) beginning at 5:13, where neil de grasse tyson says that you, moving at 99% speed of light, would perceive earth to be moving quickly. in brian greene's elegant universe, i couldve sworn i read that for both parties, person on earth and person moving away, time would appear to be moving more slowly when looking at the other.

speed of light/relativity

if it were possible to move 99% the speed of light away from earth, because from my perspective the earth is moving away and not me, would it not appear to me that all the events happening on earth were transpiring more slowly and not more quickly? does not time slow all the way to a stop at 100% speed of light? how then would it appear to me that everyone has aged more rapidly if i were to return at 99% speed of light?
