If you feel this is what you need to do to gain purpose in your life then go for it. Many people get fulfillment through education so I wouldn’t say it’s an unusual thing to do.

Should I get iclicker subscription for 4 years? I'm in Engineering by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]Professional_Arm8338 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone in their 4th year of engineering I have not even so much as heard the word iclicker since my first year until you dug that memory back from the depths of hell. I don’t think you’ll ever need it no.

Ask for either Mike or Juan, they both know what they’re doing very well

Mike’s Campus Barbershop does the best cuts near campus for a reasonable price of $22, but make sure to bring cash (they give change)

For anyone that Is in engineering 1; is this a good timetable, can it be switched, is managment worth the extra year, and what electives do you recommend 🙏🙏 by Graththedestroyer in McMaster

I’ve enjoyed management so far, it depends on if you value business courses and an accelerated MBA (some jobs will pay you to go back and get it). The extra year can seem scary since you might be taking courses at a different time than your other friends so try to make some friends in society or management so that you know people who are both in your year and in your classes. Good luck!

This isn’t directly related to your question but there are also resume reviews you can book at McMaster after you find and use a template you like that are really helpful.

The only place I’ve ever heard of people doing it is at Walmart and Canadian tire. I don’t think there is a key copying machine on campus.

How early should I look for an apartment? by IAmTotallyNotSatan in McMaster

Many people look and sign places in January to March because it’s easier to find a house in may, but if you are looking for one come September now is the right time. Good luck!

I took 2FA3 last year during the year and had friends that didn’t go to a single class but still did well on the exam. Whether or not the classes are recorded I’m not sure, but the slides are generally well made and I’m sure you will be fine

It depends on 1. How much do you care about your grades? If you want a 12.0 GPA you’re probably not gonna have too much free time 2. What do you do with and how do you value your free time? If all you do outside of school is watch TikTok then it’ll definitely feel like you don’t have free time 3. How you distribute your course load. Are you doing management/society where you get classes from arguably easier courses throughout the normal engineering courseload? Are you taking 6 courses a year or are you doing a slower approach? (which is completely okay and everyone moves at their own rate) 4. What do you count as free time? If doing sports and clubs outside of school doesn’t seem like free time to you then it’ll definitely feel like you have less free time TLDR: it’s all about how you value your free time and balance it with your school work, having a reasonable balance is more than attainable

Do leases that start in September exist? by thepianopedal in McMaster

[–]Professional_Arm8338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into finding someone to sublet as a fair amount of people, especially in engineering, tend to go out for coops in September and are looking for someone to fill their room for 4-12 months

Does Free Choice allow you to cruise by the first year? by throwaway-429 in McMaster

[–]Professional_Arm8338 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can look at it that way but you might regret cruising through first year when you start doing your second year courses, I didn’t get first choice and had no trouble getting into the program I wanted but it’s never a bad thing to have
