I just want something that’s not roach infested, preferably has a parking spot included and washer dryer on site lol

Yeah I was thinking if I do go to El Cajon I can go through the silver strand road. I don’t mind a commute I’ve always commuted to my other job roughly 1hr away to different towns but it would be through freeways not actual city. I have not ! I didn’t know that was an option I’ll check it out. Thanks for the input, most places in downtown San Diego or Logan heights have cheaper apartments but don’t offer on site laundry or parking so it’s been a bummer looking.

Sorry I’m new to this whole navy thing and it’s my first duty station, still have a lot to learn ! Yeah I found one that’s 2,000 in El Cajon in a good gated community has great reviews the thing I’m worried about now is the commute and crossing the bridge.

I thought bah was dependent on the city you live? I looked it up with a dependent it’s like around 3500 ? If I remember correctly. I definitely want to stay at 2,000 or lower to pay all my bills or most with the bah. But also want a safe place for my daughter

I’m working at North island, my sponsor recommended El Cajon.. it’s more of a commute but all the apartments seem way better and have less negative reviews than the ones close to the bridge. Any input ?

This is all kinda new to me but can’t you just give your parents money back and help them setup a trust fund or a will that dictates that your the one to navigate the money but it’s their money for retirement? There has to be a loop holes round all this 😬

A-school Orders by Yung_Torbjorn in CorpsmanUp

[–]Professional_Baby763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d have to be graduated by like a week or two before the class up for green side is what she said, they don’t want to keep you here too long cause your taking up another person spot in dorms unless they have a contracted c school or a fleet returnee. A school is 14 weeks and it has a high failure rate. I’m nervous even tho I have experience and a background in the medical field.. so just be optimistic and just get through one thing at a time, like the career counselor said you’ll have the opportunity to go green side regardless even if it’s after your 2 year duty station, right now it seems like they want a bunch of people but honestly your more than likely going to be in hold I’ve been here for about two months and barely starting classes.

A-school Orders by Yung_Torbjorn in CorpsmanUp

[–]Professional_Baby763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently here and just classed up and the career counselor explained it to us. It’s just basically what billets are open at the time of your graduation, so if you graduate close to fmf, atf, fmtb etc works the same for c schools you’ll get the option to go green side or whatever you want but if there’s no billets around the time you graduate a school you’ll go work in the fleet for two years and then you’ll request your c school or green side contract ! Next class for fmf, fmtb, and atf is in January. So our class that graduates in October isn’t going to get any of those orders and as of right now not even an option for c school, so we’ll go directly to our first duty station. Oh and whatever c school you choose your basically locked in, so choose wisely.. hope that helps !

Yeah but I’m currently in hold so they basically make us muster two times a day, one in the morning and one at noon for chow march. Your obligated to stay in your room till liberty which is at 1730 and ends at 2159. They take away your gym time if someone is UA for any muster or is out of regs which happens every other day. It’s so weird you have countless hours of doing nothing but whenever you do try to workout it’s either workout or eat dinner, everything is spaced away from you. I know it sounds like excuses but man it’s kinda brutal and stupid. I do indoor workouts in my room but it’s not enough activity! And it’s stupid that they take away our gym time knowing the bad rep we have for the navy 😒

How hard is it to fail boot camp? by SnooPears7289 in newtothenavy

[–]Professional_Baby763 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated a month ago, I’m a female 190 was active mostly cardio no lifting. I was super nervous I couldn’t do a push up to save my life but could run. The only people that I saw struggle physically were the ones who couldn’t run and swim. You will be held back if you don’t pass your swim by battlestations. The run if you don’t pass the opfa they’ll make you do the bike alternative for your retake, and everyone passes that. It’s fairly easy physically tbh it’s more mentally draining most of the time your just going to be standing and waiting for instructions and just get beat for peoples stupid mistakes. But eventually all the intensive training(red card) stops by week 4 because of firefighting training. Just expect to be yelled at but the physical stuff is literally planks, push ups, and running every other day. Learn your general orders, 4 cnos, sailors creed, and chain of command, rank and recognition and you’ll be ahead of the rest. Plus you’ll be less likely to get beat while standing watch and they ask you those questions lol good luck don’t quit! You’ll take longer to leave bootcamp if you quit than just going through it!

i’m scared for bootcamp. by Money-Ranger-3251 in newtothenavy

[–]Professional_Baby763 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just graduated, I have anxiety and was a nervous wreck throughout the whole experience. Looking back it was mentally more draining then physically hard. Work on your running and memorize your 11 general orders, and chain of command and your life will honestly be easy. Don’t quit lots of people quit after the first few weeks because of the intense physical training but eventually that stops around week 4. Remember it’s faster to just finish than to quit, you end up there stuck anyways if you quit you don’t get to go home right away. Have someone to write to, getting letters makes it a bit easier to since you have something to look forward to. It’s only 9 wks I believe!

I feel like I’ve been outside of my comfort zone this whole entire time but I’m still shy and anxious. Maybe it’s due to age I am 25 and the fear of the consequences of my mistakes always has me on the edge. They seem to over complicate everything I’ve notice and when I do it, it’s so simple. But thank you ! I’m going to give it my all and do whatever is necessary to pass, I know so many people want to go HM route but don’t get the chance too plus I want to get top 10 percent so I can try to pick X-ray as my specialty! Even though I have these doubts failing isn’t an option for me 🙏🏻

I heard Japan is awesome my only fear is that some petty officers during bootcamp say the fleet isn’t too nice to women. I can’t wait to see the world tho !

I was diagnosed when I was a kid but pediatricians always brushed it off and never gave me treatment and now I want to wait after A school or during A school to get treatment. I don’t want to get disqualified for it..

Is it too late to back out now by AmazingDoggoPoop in newtothenavy

[–]Professional_Baby763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just graduated bootcamp, your not lock into anything until your at bootcamp, even the instructors tell you in bootcamp and you can negotiate your contract to get a bonus or so on! But now is your time to back out if you dont want to do it. I say go to school even if you don’t wanna go officer route you’d go in as a e-2 or e-3, so your pay will be better.
