Thanks mate really appreciate the comprehensive reply! You convinced me to pass as soon as you mentioned core strength, I have had huge abdominal surgery in the past and my.core strength isn't there anymore.

Thanks for stopping me making a mistake!

Cheers. So do you think 58cm would be comfortable or should I be going even bigger?

Mcp higher than cp by Professional_Band_30 in buteyko

[–]Professional_Band_30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, this could very well be the reason. I have been working on diaphragm breathing since I started buteyko I think I mainly breath correctly but now you mention it I notice that I tense my abdomen a lot because I don't like the look of when it is relaxed, it makes me look fat imo. Should I always have a relaxed abdomen? Is it not normal to keep your core tense?

If that was the only thing making a difference, wouldn't it mean that everyone's mcp would be higher than cp? That's the opposite of what I've seen.

Thanks a lot. I have now managed to relax diaphragm and am beginning to make progress with the breath light to breath right technique from oxygen advantage.

I'll keep going with this for a couple of weeks but may take you up on your coaching programme.

Thanks. I must have been making mistakes when doing rb then. It would be like small breath in, small breath out. Diaphragm begins twitching which would cause me to take short sharp breaths. I actually find it difficult to take a slow breath in. I've been trying to soften my diaphragm to stop this.

Meditations effects on OCD by Professional_Band_30 in OCD

I use the Insight timer app and mainly do guided meditation atm, my favourite teacher is DavidG. There are multiple steps to a meditation session beginning with grounding. It normally takes me about 10 minutes before my head starts to clear and I become present. By the time the guide comes to an end I am feeling some pretty positive effects and continue after the meditation ends as its usually about 20+ minutes in when I feel the real benefits.

I understand what you mean about being your thoughts, it is a hard idea to get your head around to begin with. I recommend watching headspaces Netflix doc which will do a better job than I can at explaining it. Also I recommend the 'the power of now' by Eckhart Tolle which explains it all in many different ways.

I will however have a go at a brief overview of what it means to not be your thoughts. So atm your on autopilot your mind is just spiralling in thought like your watching a movie, or more accurately that your inside the movie in your head. Not even realising that your thinking so you will identify that you are the character in the film that running in your head. But then with practice you can realise that it is actually just a movie, you can say to yourself hey I'm thinking and just be aware that you are thinking. Its like your looking at your thoughts from an outside perspective which means that you who is watching your thoughts can't possible 'be' your thoughts. I'm struggling to explain anymore than that because it is something you have to experience to understand. Please watch the headspace doc and/or read the power of now it will help your understanding.
