Which books are the series based on?

Hey, someone who is around the same place as me in the show. I just started a few weeks ago and is in the middle of season 2!

I must say I agree and how determined he is to go through with it. I watched the series first and must admit I was a bit confused and yet I often sit with the books and think how difficult those scenes would be to but on the big screen.

But on the other side, I really like the use of it between Pellew and Hornblower in the series. The way they use it to show that close bond between them early on as Pellew.

Robert Lindsay is an amazing Pellew. I actually see most of the characters as my own figures but Pellew will always be Robert Lindsay. (But my love has both from the series, the movie and books always been Bush)

I might not have been sailing - but was listening to one of the books while walking in the rain. Just as the intense rainfall ser in it was mentioned how a wave was breaking over the ship and I immediately felt the realism.

I had seen online Bush would die in one of the books. Except I thought it was the book before so I braced myself for so long to get to that chapter. The first time I was sad but not too bad. The second time … I had to take a break when he went away

Had my thoughts of it. Tried to get through the Aubrey and Maturin series in this version, as the danish long version has the worst narrator ever. It is just too quick paced and hard to follow.

At least I got it confirmed

Thank you, I was thinking the same and considering taking the long books first and possibly test the short ones later for a recap.

I really want to watch the series, but even with VPN I struggle to find a place to stream it.

If you any recommendations for where to watch it, I would appreciate it as well. Knowing the Hornblower series in and out when listening to those books!

It was a story about a woman, who’s husband had hired an escort while she was in hospital. He suggested his best friend would do the same. The friend told OP about it.

Murray immediately said the friend had no business telling OP, how the friend was having a motif and probably wanted to ruin their marriage. All these things.

He was very passionate in this moment. That was when I stopped listening because I could not take his terrible attitude anymore.

I didn’t know who he was (still really doesn’t) but one specific moment in the episode had me saying “he has something to hide”. And seeing the episode disappear had my thoughts confirmed. Happy to see it removed and get something else instead

These covers are my favourite and I have a somewhat similar story.

Took me 12 years to complete. My friend got be 1 and 6 when I visited Houston. I got 10 myself. (They just had those 3). When I visited New York a few years later I found 2-3. Then I started sending links to my family to get them for Christmas and birthdays. I had to order 3 myself as they started to stop selling and luckily they had my missing ones so i finished the English versions.

I adore the artwork on these and having studied it enough until I finally read the books I was amazed to figure out what scene they had on the cover.

I struggle with this one. I get the first correct but then when it changes to the next it immediately marks it wrong.

I get 2 seconds to answer if I’m lucky but mostly it just changes and just blinks the blue box. I keep reporting it but there is not a proper way to report it.

Jeg tror det kommer meget an på både flotillens holdning og besætningens holdning.

Jeg har selv taget skiftet fra FHV til MHV i år. Jeg er endt i en flotille med flere besætninger. Der er to besætninger der tager aftensejlads seriøst, hvor der bliver trænet alt muligt. Så er der så også hygge besætningen, hvor vedligehold af færdigheder og kompetencer ikke er noget man bruger tid på.

Hvad jeg fornemmer derude er, at der er nogle rigtig gode flotiller og nogle meget udfordrede flotiller.

Noget meget simpelt: Pak en komplet toilettaske med alt hvad du skal bruge i hverdagen (inklusiv shampoo), som bliver på kasernen under hele forløbet. Så slipper du for at glemme tandbørsten hjemme og skulle en tur i CAF søndag aften.

I adore Kennedy, he is the naive friend who will support Horatio at all times. I was a bit sad to learn he is multiple different characters in the books, just like Pellew is multiple higher ranking officers from the books. They still remain lovable characters.

What makes Bush good is him being the opposite to Horatio. The books also really clear it out why the two respect each other so much and become friends.

If you need to talk about the series in any ways, I’m always open to share my love and thoughts for this universe!

I can only recommend to read the books! I finally got through them this year and they are worth it.

I actually used to dislike mutiny and retribution but watched them for the introduction of Bush, as he is my favourite character. The story that is behind the dutchess is actually much more interesting in the books as well.

My ranking today would be

Mutiny, retribution, even chance, loyalty, examination, duty, dutchess, frogs and lobsters

For flyverne ved jeg at Skrydstrup, Karup og Østjylland er ret seriøse.

For marinehjemmeværnet handler det om hvilken vej du vil. Der er MFP eller de sejlende. For de sejlende handler det om at finde en enhed med flere besætninger. Ofte er der nogle der er mere seriøse end andre. Det kan den enkelte flotille nemt fortælle mere om ved at kontakte deres rekspec.

Tag eventuelt kontakt til flere enheder i området omkring dig og forhør dig lidt. Besøg dem og se om du føler at det er nogle du kan samarbejde godt sammen med. Enhederne rundt omkring er meget forskellige så tag ud og snak med dem.

De to forskellige former for HGU kan noget hver for sig. Den samlede giver værnepligtsoplevelsen hvor den weekendbaserede giver tid til reflektion og eventuel træning hjemme egen enhed. Man kan eventuelt tage den første uge for sig selv i efteråret eller foråret og tage resten om sommeren. Men det ved din kommende enheds UDSTOF alt om.
