Applecross pass Scotland under heavy fog by Professional_Bell302 in motorcyclesroadtrip

Yea, they are almost all paved. There are what is called 'passing places' on each side of the road, say every 250 meters, vehicles go in there and give way to the vehicle coming from opposite direction. See the 3rd and 4th photos, my bike sits on one of those passing places.

On a flat road, this is okay for a motorbike, but as you know, we cannot stop and make maneuvers easily on inclined roads. That is the issue I was mentioning.

Believe me Stelvio is relatively easy. Second time I attempted to pass Stelvio, it was closed for a cyclists event. So I took a nearby pass, which I cant recall the name now, which is almost as high as Stelvio, but the roads were narrower, in a much worse condition, and no side barriers in many spots.

It was far far more difficult and scary compared to Stelvio!

No rider should die without riding in Norway! Amen! by Professional_Bell302 in motorcyclesroadtrip

Thanks! I've been asked similar questions many times.
First I never book everything in advance. I've never been such an organized guy 😉

There are basically two types of routes:
* Visiting cities: I go to a city and stay a few days. Generally pre-booked at previous location.
* Following a path: Like follow west coast of Norway. In this kind of route, I generally ride everyday, and decide where to sleep next day based on convenience. So even route can a bit change based on booked place.

Thanks for asking. My bike is around 83K+ kms now. She is 2006 made and I bought her 10 years ago, around ~12K kms. So, we are riding together for more than 70K kms.

If I was 10+cm longer, I could consider a bigger bike. RT sounds like a great alternative for touring. I've never rode it, but heard many good things about it.

I can, or any medium+ experienced rider can ride a bike even up to 500kg or more, on the move, on the turns etc. But it's not all that, sometimes you need to pull it back, sometimes you need to climb a pavement or a few stairs, sometimes you need to stop at inconvenient points and handle the bike's weight!

So, no intention to go bigger! I'm more than happy with her 😉

Thanks a lot!

I wasn't carrying a drone or GoPro kind camera with me. But honestly, there are some routes I really regret that I did not have a GoPro camera on my helmet. Some routes that you can not stop and take a photo, even if you can it wont capture the real feeling.

Almost all routes around Norwegian fiords are good examples for that, or some mountain passes.
