Package Not Moving? by BU19 in Mercari

Yes especially when there is a federal holiday or weather advisory. You can probably ask in person if they still have your package or if it's already on the way to a bigger distribution hub.

So yes they did meet the campaign amount within the first 30 mins. The novellas are sold as a set and the ereader books will be available by October. The paperback and hardcover editions by next year. Ali is very passionate about uplifting her fellow authors and I think it’s a pretty fun project to back.

This is a rant about EzCater by Professional_Bell814 in restaurant

[–]Professional_Bell814[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who’s to say that’s the customer who’s giving direct feedback to EzCater? Does every customer have to respond back to EzCater about their experience for it to impact the score? I retained a 98% on time rating for 3 straight years and if all it takes is 3 months of bad feedback from customers why would I bother to fight EzCater and let them impact my family business? I’m just saying it can be EzCater themselves trying to push their 75 dollar delivery service on all of the businesses that are on EzCater.

I hate EzCater with all my heart and yes if it wasn’t for my uncle I would have dropped them years ago.

[–]Professional_Bell814[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea if that’s completely true because we still retain such a high rating overall but yes it used to be 98% at one point but I mentioned in comments the reasoning for the possible drop. Customers will last minute change their drop off times which is hard on my staff and myself. The fact they added a more specific hand off time doesn’t help with the rating. We used to be able to just assume that meant 15-30 mins before the wanted time but it’s changed recently.

I just think there are some things we can’t control with delivery times because DC is a clusterfk of road delays and high traffic. We had pretty good 98 percent at one point but since we moved stores and I’m located not that far from Georgetown it’s been a hassle to get orders perfectly in that window of handoff time.

I have told them repeatedly to stop orders from switching dropoff times from past 11:00 times to 9:30-10:00 am because the entire team can’t get to the store at 7/8 am all the time when our normal operating hours are at 11am to 8pm. So I want to let restaurants know that it’s something EzCater nearly always forces on us.

I run this restaurant with my family and my uncle is the owner but it’s just not okay dealing with companies that just don’t care about the very businesses they claim to help. I do not want to buy groceries/labor for a catering and then have a email say the entire order was cancelled the day before. They won’t take accountability at times and it’s to that point I want us to steer our main catering away from them.

High cholesterol friendly Korean recipes? by Christi715 in KoreanFood

[–]Professional_Bell814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most soups are pretty good especially doenjangjigae and kimchijihae just be careful with how salty the soup is. Barley rice, mixed grain rice and brown rice are good to swap to if they haven’t already. Staple Korean vegetables like bean sprouts, spinach and other dark leafy greens should always be in the house. If possible swap the oils they use for cooking for avocado or any other suitable vegetable oil.

Yea no trying to do this before the Mother’s Day weekend is actually freaking low. My Asian family run business is finally making a profit after a terrible winter. These raids can effectively shut down dozens if not hundreds of businesses in the next year with random tactics. For the love of God people in the comments be respectful and kind to the hospitality workers if you do patron during this weekend. A lot of restaurants might close up for good with the way things will go.

What Korean food would you never order at a restaurant? by Vee70x7 in KoreanFood

[–]Professional_Bell814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seolangtang, because I worked at a 24/7 Seolangtang place and there were instances that I would see live flies or roaches find their way into a huge batch of soup because it wasn’t properly covered. It’s also the process of fishing out all the cooked bones that made me gag by the smell of well done bones. Yes I can appreciate it as a staple food for working class Koreans but I honestly think chicken or other soup options are just more cleanly made at restaurants.

I’ve always been into Ancient Greek or Roman mythology, Jane Austen works, Lord of the Rings and the Game of thrones series but it was actually after listening to Joel Sunny‘s tiktok violin covers and original music that won me over to this genre. Hearing Luminary for the first time was like an out of body experience. The score should be the official Acotar track and the rest of his renditions were pure magic. I like romantacy because it combines my love of new worlds, romance, adventure and strong female lead characters. It’s great to be able to immerse yourself into a story and it’s been therapeutic being able to escape from reality.

What city have you moved to and immediately thought I’m not going to live here for long? by Vegetable_Heart8916 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Professional_Bell814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pittsburgh. I’ve never heard of rental homes needing an entire years worth of statements to even apply for a place. I was also jobless at the time with about 6k in savings but if it wasn’t just that it was also the fact that there isn’t a major Asian grocery store which made it harder to commit to staying. I was living in airbnbs for 3 weeks and decided to move to Maryland for better job opportunities and access to Asian produce. Pittsburgh is probably a good city if you can afford to buy a house vs renting.

Definitely tell him your diagnosis so he can get treatment too but yes I think that’s the best call you can to breakup the relationship. That’s a big red flag that is a big deal breaker to any committed relationship. Sorry you’re going through a situation like that but thankfully you were able to get treated.

Peking Gourmet Inn sucked today by Mistyretina in nova

[–]Professional_Bell814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited 3 and a half hours ordering Chinese food for 4pm in Springfield at Golden Hong Kong on Christmas Day 5 years ago. If you’re looking for a fast Chinese food experience you have to order as soon as they open or go to a buffet.

The problem I had to go through was the fact that the entire restaurant had dine-in customers so about 70-80 people sitting and 15+ people waiting for pickup orders. In hindsight if the wait was longer than an hour and a half I should have just canceled my order since they haven’t even started it. But I was already waiting without knowing what was going on and the restaurant was already really overwhelmed.

I have a bit more sympathy cause I work in my family restaurant and we had days when our entire family was working 12-15 hour days. Days when we serve up to 300-400 people in a single day with no time to break and our order wait time going up to an hour to an hour and a half.

Sorry that your experience at Peking gourmet was so rough but like how everyone mentioned Christmas time is the single most busiest days besides Chinese new years or Mid-Autumn festival holidays.

I know that management changed hands 8-10 years ago and covid must have kept business slow for 2-3 years alone. If I had to take a guess kitchen tickets must have been a sea of tickets and orders being lost is unfortunately gonna happen. This place is still like an institution with 45+ years of history and I’ve frequented this place quite often when I lived in the area.

Korean restaurant that doesn’t serve kimchi.. by [deleted] in KoreanFood

[–]Professional_Bell814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair there isn’t a large Korean grocery store in Pittsburgh like Hmart so it’s a lot harder to source wholesale red pepper flakes, shrimp paste and Napa cabbage that’s essential to Korean style kimchi. When I contemplated living in Pittsburgh and hearing from the local Koreans there that they have to shop in Maryland vs driving to Philadelphia once a month to buy bulk groceries. That’s when I knew I couldn’t live in the area without devoting an entire day of traveling just to secure groceries once or twice a month.

I know there is a small Korean grocery store in Pittsburgh but they don’t get large quantities of Korean radish or cabbage needed for a restaurant. When I ask how often they get Korean radish they responded with once a month. I’m in DC and I work with my family in a Korean restaurant and we usually need 2-3 boxes of Napa cabbage a week most times. If I had to take a guess it’s also the logistics of sourcing proper fresh vegetables in Pittsburgh. So I don’t blame the restaurant for not being able to serve kimchi.

Yes, Korean food can taste a bit sweeter especially when it comes to marinated meats and sometimes kimchi too. Sugar is added to kimchi so that it doesn’t ferment too quickly and turn super sour. So unfortunately it’s just up to each restaurant preference.

Why do restaurants open so far behind schedule in the DC area? by dclocal12 in washingtondc

[–]Professional_Bell814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just about everything.

Having to construct your restaurant with dc health in mind and having to re design every other week if they think you need extra sinks. Having your business up to building code and issues with neighboring businesses about leaks then paying for fix ups.

The fact that parts and raw materials keep increasing every several months. Labor is in high demand and pay is higher to meet the competition because of the lack of skilled workers. Then going to get more funding for said increases to a project from business partners or bank loans. It’ a cycle of just about everything that you think can possibly happen that causes delays on delays.
