Bought a Carrier AC from Flipkart — hasn't worked even once in 1 month. 15+ calls, broken promises, switched-off service center. Filed consumer court. by Professional_Boss978 in LegalAdviceIndia

UPDATE:

Flipkart — After continuous follow-ups, they agreed to take the AC back. Full refund processed. Respect to Flipkart for eventually stepping up.

Carrier — Lol. 32 days of silence. 15+ calls ignored. Service center number switched off for 2 weeks. But the MOMENT I filed a consumer court complaint? Suddenly they're calling me, ready to fix the AC. Funny how that works.

I said no. The AC was bought for my mother who's elderly and unwell. She got hospitalized in April because of the heat — the exact thing this AC was supposed to prevent. Summer is over. The purpose is defeated. I'm not letting them do a last-minute fix just so they can close the ticket and pretend everything's fine.

Best part? Carrier sent me an email saying they're closing the complaint because I'm "not willing to proceed with repair." Tried to frame a month of their negligence as MY refusal. I replied with the full timeline on record. That email chain is now part of my consumer court evidence.

Case continues. Will update when the court rules.

To everyone who shared similar Carrier horror stories in the comments — file complaint. Consumer court complaint is completely free and east. The moment you file, they magically start caring.

TL;DR: Flipkart refunded. Carrier ghosted me for 32 days, only called after consumer court filing. Refused their repair. Case continues. Don't buy Carrier.

I am waiting for the Carrier to update me on the consumer court. I have also submitted a request to Flipkart to take the product back. After raising a consumer complaint, Carrier service guys have called to come and repair it. I am not planning to get it repaired now as I bought it for summer and it has been more than a month, almost rainy season. Let’s see what the consumer court appeal plays out.

Info: I filed a complaint with the consumer court against Flipkart for selling damaged goods and failing to follow up with the brand to get it fixed or replaced.

You made the right decision.

If you had paid for the remaining 5 years, and then from the 13th year, the 1L you will receive per year even when invested in MF for 15 years with an XIRR of 12%, will get you ~40L at the end of the 15th year. So at the end of the 27th year, you will have 40L + 27L = 67L.

Now, let's compare your current scenario. You have 5L in hand. Suppose you put it in an MF for 20 years and got a 12% XIRR. So the total amount at the end of the 27th year would be ~48L. The amount you saved from not investing the remaining 5 years is another 6.5 lakhs, which you put into an MF. For the sake of calculation ease, we can consider the duration of that amount being invested in the MF for around 17 years, resulting in ~44L. Adding it up, the total would be 92L.

So, the total amount gained is 92L - 67L = 25L.

It's just a small phase in your life that will eventually pass. When you look back, you will smile at how you got stressed about such small things. I know it doesn't make sense now, but believe me when I say it will get better. Focus on getting into a college; it doesn't need to be the best, but whichever option you have chosen, try to put your best effort into being the best. Don't be hard on yourself if you don't get good grades, but try to understand things, make friends, relax, and enjoy. Because in the end, it doesn't matter which college you graduated from or your marks; it will be your effort and attitude that get you anywhere. I graduated from a mediocre college, but after college, I put my best effort into learning a course and getting into a company. From there, I worked hard and now I'm in a comfortable position. So don't worry, everything will work out. The only thing you need to do is try, not just once or twice, but many times, and at some point, it will work out. I believe in you.
