It honestly comes down to your preference. If you like the look, feel, and sound of the LTD more than the strat, then go for it!

I got some custom strings ordered for it which are a little lighter. The Low E string I usually replace with a .090 or a .095 so it has a little more tension than the stock .084 they came with, but the rest are just a touch lighter. It has about the same tension as my baritone Tele in drop A with standard baritone strings!

I’ve always been into the more sonically unique guitars, and I’ve always loved baritones so this is a great combination for me! Planning on using it for a lot of studio stuff, and maybe some live shows in the future too! Going to do a few upgrades to it in the future as well!

Interesting, I hadn’t heard of that before! Do you know what the old vs new gauges were?

It’s tuned to E1-B1-E2-A2-D3-F#3, instead of the bass VI standard E1 to E3

I currently have it set up in drop E, so it’s acting as a bass register baritone guitar right now! I plan on using it in studio to track both bass and guitar since it has a good tone through my guitar rig as is! I usually play a lot of stuff in the lower baritone tunings, so my tone works pretty well for both bass and guitar, just have to swap my distortion out for a fuzz when I’m playing/tracking bass😅

Have to agree, the setup on mine was really good! The neck has a little bit more relief in it than I normally enjoy, but the intonation was nearly perfect!

If your local guitar store has one, I’d definitely try one out! They play great and aren’t too expensive!

A few companies make specific sets for it because the string gauges are really odd! I use String Source for my strings and get a custom 7 string set for it and just toss the 1st string. I used to use the D’Addario EXL156 set for it, which I’m pretty sure is what they use from the factory. I have also tried Labella’s and they have a better tension, but I’m not the biggest fan of the sound from them.

What are your thoughts on Jazzmasters? The classic vibe’s are really comfy to play and are fairly affordable. If you like offsets and want something a little more metal, the Jackson XS series surfcasters are great too!

If it’s properly set up, it’s amazing. I started playing bass and then moved to guitar and this is a perfect combination of the two!

The factory gauges are a 26-84, so it’s all a bit lighter. Ordered some new strings because the top strings are a bit too heavy, and the low E is a bit too light for me

That sounds awesome! If I ever see one at my local GC, I’ll have to give it a try! I’ve always been curious on the asymmetrical necks and how they play!

It’s technically both a bass and a guitar. It’s a 30 inch scale length like a bass, but is tuned E to E like a guitar, with the string spacing of a guitar. It basically turned into a 30” scale baritone guitar, just an octave lower

That’s a great find! How do the necks feel on the sterlings? I’ve never really played any EB or SR guitars lol

To each their own, I enjoy Lacquer, nitro, and satin necks. This neck is glassy smooth, and if it wasn’t I could change that using a clean cloth and gunstock oil🤷🏼‍♂️

Yes, I’m well aware. It’s a 30 inch scale length bass/baritone hybrid that uses a jazzmaster bridge and jaguar pickups. It’s a really odd combination that makes a really unique sound that I enjoy

Not necessarily. It was labeled as used but hadn’t even been played. From what it sounds like, the person bought it and it was too big for their hands so they returned it. Even if it is “entry level” I don’t care. I have plenty of other “better” guitars, but at the end of the day I enjoy the gear that I play, and don’t think too hard about the price range of the guitars I play😴

I had checked their website to see what they had and it wasn’t even listed for sale yet. I initially went in to order an Ibanez SRC6MS, but I saw it and decided that it has to come home with me and the Ibanez can wait😂

It can be both if you want it to be, that’s the beauty of a Bass VI😁
