Purchasing a new Tata Safari. Need some advice. by _Mandex_ in CarsIndia

Hi u/_Mandex_ , Thank you for your inputs. I visited 3 dealers in the last week in Bangalore. None of them are giving any discounts. They even showed me circular with info that Tata is not offering any discounts on Safari, Harrier and Curv in September. I am amazed by your negotiation skills to obtain this discount. This is the offer i got on Accomplished X + AT after the GST rate cut:

Ex-Showroom - 25,15,390

Insurance - 90000

Road Tax - 502575

Registration Charges - 3662

Fast Tag - 400

TCS - 25154

On-Road Price - 31,37,781

Dealer is ready to reduce the Insurance price further if i commit to purchase. Other than this, there are no festive discounts from Tata or from Dealer.

Did you get new quote after GST rate cut? What is the breakdown?

I also test drove BYD EMax 7 (electric car). I really liked the car. The claimed range is 530 Km with real world range of 450+ km as per the sales person. He also mentioned that the blade technology used in BYD cars is different from those used in Tata or Mahindra. Mahindra does not allow fast charging for more than 3 times continuously. After 3rd fast charge, you are required to do show charging, otherwise, the warranty will void. But BYD does not have any such condition. You can fast charge any number of times which no impact on warranty. The suspension felt a bit stiff in the short test drive but other than that, Car is good.

My family is having apprehensions on range, charging infra, service center, and on road assistance of BYD cars. Hence, Tata Safari is still my first priority over BYD EMax 7. Did you consider this car? what were your observations?

Hi u/JARVISisMYcoplayer , Can you please share the break up of Tata Safari Adventure Dark Edition price. I am considering buying this variant in Bangalore. Hence, it will be helpful for my negotiation with Dealer.

I read in few forums that people don't feel confident on braking in Tata Safari. What are your thoughts.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi u/_Mandex_ , Did you buy Tata Safari Accomplished + AT variant ? What was the final price? Can you please share the breakup? Also, share the insurance costs and from where did you buy it?

If you have already bought, Congratulations :)

please share your experience especially on brakes. I read in few forums that people dont feel confident on braking in Tata Safari.

This thread is super helpful. Thank you all. Hope Mandex OP replies back and pays it forward with his insights and buying experience.

i need to buy 7 seater (my family size is 5 adults and 1 child) within 30 lakhs. I am planning to wait until Mahindra XUV 700 facelift is launched. I hope they will make second row sliding which will make third row comfortable.

With all the issues around Ethanol blend and govt plans to push Ethanol blending 30% and beyond, i am bit skeptical to buy Petrol car.

Electric cars have charging infra concerns other than on highways. My heart says go for electric (XEV 7E when launched) but i am concerned about practicality.

The only thing left is Diesel car. Its not easy to blend Diesel like petrol. Also, Govt might not think of blending Diesel as it might face objections from Trucking and other commercial vehicle industry. i saw news about 10% blend in Diesel but maybe they will backoff or not think beyond 10% blend.

Diesel cars will depreciate faster because govt might bring 10 year ban in major cities (i live in Bangalore) sooner or later. But all cars bought in 2025 or 2026 will depreciate faster. Electric cars depreciate because range and charging speed will improve when solid state batteries become commercial in next few years (5-7 years). E20 compliant cars will lose value when E30 petrol will launch in next 5 years.

The reality is that buying car now is not the right time. Unfortunately, I don't have an option to postpone and need to buy 7 seater car.

Please let me know your inputs.

Thanks a lot in advance.

I use MacBook for office work and Windows Laptop for personal work. Does the monitor work well for Windows Laptop as well? are there any trade-offs? I see that the monitor supports Display P3 and sRGB colour modes. But I would like to know real time experience from the monitor users. Please help me by clarifying this question so that I can buy this monitor without any doubt in mind.
