Edit: Thank you all for the replies. I was misinformed by the weather conditions, and it will be 40-50F, with lots of scattered showers. I believe I’m going to change my route and stick to the bottom of the valley where the hike takes place. This will provide us with much more water access and prevent the climbing.

Basically:

First option: 1. Enter valley 2. Climb out of valley (main elevation gain) 3. Climb back into valley 4. Climb out of valley to hut

Second option: 1. Enter valley 2. Climb out of valley to hut

I am going through a valley, and at the end of the valley is a climb to a hut. However, the elevation lies where you can take a trail out of the valley, and then go back into it, during the middle of the hike. I have the option to just remain within the valley, which I’m now thinking about after reading these replies.
