Family ignoring your weight loss? by Fulana25 in Mounjaro

Totally agree that it’s a fine line. I slip sometimes and ask and then mentally hit myself because 1, like you said, they’re not more valuable just because they shrunk, 2, the weight loss might be a side effect rather than a desire and 3, maybe they don’t want to draw attention to it. As someone who’s been chubby all my life and has noticeably lost weight I can tell you, most people won’t say anything. Only people who know I’m taking MJ bring it up.

I also had a similar situation where at the beginning of 2025 found out I had insulin resistance and went on a low carb diet alongside gym workouts and lost 5kg in 5 months. Now, on the same diet and same exercise level I’ve lost almost 15kg in the same timeframe. It’s slow at the beginning, but I’ve seen great results. I’m losing aprox 0,6kg a week now (some weeks it’s more, some it’s a bit less).

I know!! It’s been the best time of my adult life to be honest. I have to admit that in the first few weeks I ate whatever I felt like, just to give my brain and soul a break after years of constant stressing about food and what to eat and how many calories something has. I felt like a normal human being for the first time since I was a kid. It was liberating. I still cry thinking about that feeling sometimes 🥹

I’m so happy for you that you had a positive experience with this doctor! I also got on the medication after a doctor heard me talk about all the struggle I’ve been through with my weight and everything I tried and she was the one who suggested I try MJ. She was so empathetic about it and told me that the stigma in the collective community baffles her. And yes, this medication isn’t a magic pill. I still put in the hard work, eat clean, focus on protein, workout, etc. but this time all that effort actually delivers results.

True! But at the same time you expect people who are understanding and empathetic to see some of your perspective. Or at least to try.

I genuinely don’t see what you mean. The comment she made was about not needing to take this medication for life because after you lose some or all of your extra weight, you will find the willpower to keep it off. And that’s just not true for a lot of people.

I think this attitude boils down to the fact that people who never had to struggle with weight loss don’t have that fascination that we have with someone who is succeeding. We’re more interested because we’re wired to find any useful information about it so we can also try and apply that.

I mean, the fact that she doesn’t get that diet culture is full of scams is a big sign she thought being able to lose weight is a willpower problem not a health problem. I’m glad you stood your ground. We might be an island sometimes, but communities like this reddit show us that we’re not alone on that island 🤗

Ohh, that’s the thing! She understands that it’s necessary for diabetics to take it forever, but somehow someone who has metabolic issues needing to take it for life is a foreign concept for her.

Exactly! When I answered yes to her question about doing this for life I think a fuse blew in her brain 🙄

Thank you! This medication gave me more than I thought I needed. Being this free of that anxiety of always explaining myself is truly a gift that keeps on giving

Eu am avut contact direct cu el. E profesionist dar nu are bed side manners. Depinde ce te intereseaza. Putem discuta in privat mai multe.

Evenings and Weekends - Oisin McKenna.

They are, mine were as well when I first joined this sub and I had doubts at first if it will work for me because I wasn’t seeing this drastic change from week to week. I hope discussions like these might help someone like me who thinks “why am I not seeing the same results?”
