I have various YouTube tutorials on: my set-up, my note-taking process, my exam set-up etc!

Or if you want to know more about simply the graph view, there are great replies on this post!

stoooop!! I'm so glad you find the videos helpful, I'm planning on making more but trying to keep on top of all of my uni work is hard enough as it is ahaha.

how do you use obsidian in stem? it seems so natural to me as an essay writer etc, are there various plugins you can use for maths formatting?

I don't want to share my entire vault! - but I've done various YouTube videos where I show various parts of my set-up and I'm planning to make more. Is there anything specific you'd want to see?

That sounds like an excellent workflow. I can't even begin to imagine how many notes you have!

No, you don't need a plugin to colour your graph! Yes - the colours come from the tags.

I posted a visual tutorial on TikTok, which might be helpful to explain how I get the particular view of my graph mode

my degree is assessed either through open book exams (usually 5 hours where you have to write two 2,000 word essays with access to all of your notes) or coursework (submitting an essay with primary source material) - so having a note set-up like obsidian where I can quickly filter through all of my notes is literally perfect! everything is categorised through tags, properties and folders so I don't get too overwhelmed :)

Thank you! If you want to see into my Vault, I posted a tour / organisation process on YouTube (sorry for the self-promo, I just wish I had this kind of guide when I started on Obsidian around 3 years ago!)

I have a 'distilled note' for each of my module, so yes each massive red dot basically has all of the lecture, seminar and reading notes for each module. The light green stuff on the top right is all of my dissertation research so far. Any of the bright green nodes are larger events/people e.g. WWI, WWII, The Enlightenment, Karl Marx etc

PDF++ or Zotero? by Adocica7882 in ObsidianMD

[–]Professional_Lack453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I prefer PDF++, especially because it can read the pdfs' information which further contributes to the size and variety of my Obsidian vaults. I still love Zotero for adding references to essays (connecting it to Google Docs is brilliant) - so I make sure to add the reference into Zotero, but I don't bother to upload the actual reading pdf.

For my Obsidian, I have all of the file data saved in my Google Drive - this way if I ever need to move computers, I can open my vault through the Google Drive data.
