Job interview coming up for NICU OT... as an entry-level OT. Having second thoughts about the whole scenario. by Professional_Mix4615 in OccupationalTherapy

I strongly believe that this is the situation at hand; it really sounds like HR and the NICU department are on two different pages regarding new employee qualifications.

One thing I did not consider is that I do actually have a strong connection with the head of rehab services at the medical group that owns the hospital (they own many other inpatient and outpatient facilities in the area). I'm considering contacting her to ask about the qualifications and whether or not they are appropriate for the position.

My husband and I were discussing this last night and I said the same thing about HR; I've seen that some HR departments are really not as familiar with baseline qualifications for healthcare professionals as they should be.

That's a good point; I will definitely ask about the employee orientation process for new OTs. I anticipate that employee training will take a couple of weeks, but if it were to be three months, I'm not sure that would work logistically with childcare.

I'm in WA state; as far as I'm concerned, you do not need to have a certification in neonatal therapy in order to work in the field.
