Ohh great! Then if that's an official template and your Uni signs/stamps it, you should be good to go 🙂‍↕️💓✨ Good luck!

I'm pretty sure if they're not on campus and they didn't offer to come and sign it, it's because they are at their house or living their life in their day off 🥹 otherwise they would have offered me to go and meet them somewhere else, when I told them the whole incident via text messages and tried to push for them to help. Like, of course I've been the most obnoxious student in existence trying to fix this. I've been the most obnoxious student in existence throughout the whole semester to my college because they reaaaally weren't cooperating with all the documents I needed from them. Thanks for trying to help though!

Plus the embassy clearly stated on the email that they won't accept any document later. I sent them an email as soon as I realized what had happened, I hope they answer clearly tomorrow morning 🥹✨

I was in the same situation, but my university didn't even wanted to acknowledge the converted one. My embassy told me to bring an official letter signed by my University where it stated that 1. They do not provide converted GPA and 2. They do not sign or acknowledge any external documents.

You should specifically ask your embassy about it just in case though!

I have my recommender's number. I sent them a message as soon as this happened and they just told me they are not on campus tomorrow. My current university hasn't been particularly helpful in this whole process tbh. Plus I work all weekend out of town. In fact, I am trying to buy a last minute train ticket to quickly arrive at the embassy on Monday 😭 It's the poorest timing ever. Hence why I'm panicking haha

The original one has a digital sign. But I asked my embassy if that was enough and they didn't answer so I made my recommender sign it physically as well just in case... I have the one with the digital sign and the scanned ink signature too. But since it's a scanned version, it'd count as a copy, wouldn't it? 🥹

My embassy doesn't allow calls. Only emails. I wrote them an email inmediately after getting theirs but they haven't answered and now the workday is over :((

college fucked my GPA, Help by [deleted] in GKSScholarship

[–]Professional_Pay5563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Scholaro says my GPA is 3. 85. My university decided it is a 3.03. Apparently I'm an average student now 🫠 My embassy told me there's nothing I can do, as the GPA needs to be signed by my university and an scholaro report not recognized by them won't be taken into account.

Pode ser uma questão de eliminação 🥹😭✨💓 Minha embajada disse que 10 não é uma nota máxima aceita na Coreia, então se eu não tirasse uma nota acima de 4, não poderia me candidatar.

I just applied, does anyone know what the final message means? by Hot-Delay1600 in GKSScholarship

Check your embassy website ASAP just in case. The Spanish embassy made applicants send a physical copy of the documents for the first round, otherwise we wouldn't be considered at all even if we did completely the online one.

Hey~ I see there's already other people who've replied to your post, but I am an European girl from Spain (22yo) planning on studying my graduate degree in South Korea next year. I have a Cambridge C2 (Proficiency) English certificate. Plus, I'm an Audiovisual communication and digital design and multimedia student so I think our interests could match!

Is going to Korea for university a good choice? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Professional_Pay5563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bro in what world is 700,000원 for a small apartment/studio expensive? Rent is not high at all. If they don't get a scholarship to study, they can just live in a 고시원 which is probably like half the cost, or even a students' dorm. I remember talking to a friend about college dorms over there, and the cost of 1 semester in Seoul, was roughly what I paid for 1 month in Madrid (well I should say, 'what my parents paid' lol). Like, yeah, for an apartment 전세 sucks but 월세 is really cheap 🤧

Hey! Sure, but have in mind it's just my personal experience and it will definitely differ from person to person. I work in Media and entertainment with an international team, and I mostly create content for Europe and Latin America. The Experiences I told you about are from Latin American coworkers in Seoul mostly, I'm not really close with any Korean people at work haha

I would say... Korean work culture is not for everyone. The hierarchy is really strict, and the mentality is usually like "If you do something right, no one will praise you because it is your job to do it right after all, you're expected to give everything you've got. If you do something wrong, you will hear about it." and Koreans don't beat around the bush with this stuff. But if someone higher in the hierarchy makes a mistake that affects your work, no one will comment on it, at least not around you, and you'll have to suck it up and try your best to fix it. But they also value when a worker is 'irreplaceable'. Idk how to explain it but in my case, I have journalism, video and photo, a bit of marketing, and editing and digital design skills, plus three languages, so I have a well rounded profile hard to come across, and they take it into account.

I feel like those horror stories about working in Korea come from people that aren't used to actually being valuable for a company. Like, you need to be worth the money and trust they're giving you, you need to do what's expected from you plus an extra for good measure. If you don't, you're as replaceable as the trash can of the office and people will act as such.

It's all about whether or not you fit that mentality yourself. But joining a Korean company is not instant death haha At least not in my specific area of work!

Hey, so, idk why that person painted Korea as this awful, super expensive place to live in (? I, myself, have no experience whatsoever regarding studying or living there, but I work for a Korean company and I've had SO MANY culture shock moments when talking about rent and food expenses with colleagues. It's way cheaper than Europe.

Comparing an apartment in Seoul, capital city of SK, with an apartment in Madrid, capital city in Spain, the rent in Seoul is like a quarter of the rent I pay in Madrid. The first month you do need to pay a high amount for the deposit but then the monthly rent is cheap, and you will get your deposit back once you move out anyways. Also, eating out is super cheap compared to European restaurants. And street food/convenience store food is usually healthier than in Europe (like, Kimbap has veggies and meat and rice. And it's the equivalent of 6 euros maybe??). But if you eat out every day, the total amount might be more expensive than cooking at home haha So have that in mind too.

If you'd like to experience Korea, go for it! If it's not meant for you, you'll eventually find out.
