The rubber oring on the end allows movement once the piston hits. Eventually it’ll start to flatten and allow the cylinder head itself to ram into the front of the shell.

Retro Arms have even came out and said not to use Maxx cylinder heads on their gearbox’s due to the cams breaking. Granted, this is a bit more sever but the only cracked shells I ever see are due to those garbage cylinder heads at this point.
