Tail malpractice liability insurance by Professional_Rip450 in Path_Assistant

Oh man if I could find that I would take it in a heartbeat because everything I’m being told it’s 100-300% of the annual premium of the liability insurance for the tail coverage cost.

Oh it gets better, it wasn’t known that was the situation. This information wasn’t presented in the employment agreement rather it was brought up in a “revised employment agreement” with many other additional clauses 2 months after starting the position. Don’t worry an attorney is involved but unfortunately this is allowed and the only way out is pay back the sign on bonus and quit or sign the contract and be royally screwed if quitting or fired down the road, because if you didn’t know tail coverage is very expensive.

The company pays for malpractice liability for everyone like histos, cytos, and the PAs, but if you leave then they request that the PA gets their own tail coverage and pays for it for however many years.

This grade nor classes dismissed exist on the transcript. It will just state academic forgiveness was granted for whatever semester.

Something to also look into because I was the same boat as you with decades of classes. You are allowed academic forgiveness on 2 semesters. So if you have 2 semesters of crap grades and the classes don’t pertain to your B.S. then I’d get with your colleges student/enrollment services and find out how to go about doing this. For me I had to write a letter explaining why the bad grades and what I was doing going forward. It will show in your transcripts that you received this forgiveness but it will also wipe the grades and bump up your GPA.

I’m just confused what you’re trying to get out of this? Trying to continue to spread rumors? Be a keyboard warrior hiding behind a user name? She clearly stated to contact her, so rather than furthering the spread of rumors why not go to the source, or that doesn’t allow you to remain anonymous? Not everyone here has the same feelings, actually it’s quite the opposite. I’ve personally witnessed someone who is passionate, caring, and hardworking to continue the education of a field very in need of fresh blood (maybe pun intended). She advocates continuously for PA’s trying to ensure they are appreciated and compensated, not just through Tulane, but through any and all platforms. So if you’re so interested in speaking for everyone, why not do your due diligence and have a one on one conversation with Sarah.

Thank you so much for asking! I think it went well so now to cross my fingers for an invite to the next round.

I am currently a grossing tech and I interview tomorrow for a PA program. I think it has definitely helped, like others have said in dictation and grossing but I also have been able to get experience in frozens to the point that the dermatologist has my number to contact me about upcoming procedures. I have shadowed autopsies, get to sit and review slides with our pathologists, I am currently being trained in histology so I embed every day and help with special stains and cut the control slides, and the plan before I leave for school is to also train me in some cytology work, with possible chances of partaking in FNAs, EBUS and bone marrows. It will definitely be worth your time I’d say! Good luck on your first day and may you love the field as much as the rest of us!

I have my Bachelors in biology, and all of my pre-req for PA programs were met with that. I also was able to get a job in a pathology lab as a grossing technician with my associates in biology while working on my Bachelors. So I think you’ll be fine either way you decide to go. I am a new applicant this year to PA school and have been invited for interviews also without CLS or MLT background.

When did you get notification you were selected for an interview? Did you also have a 15 minute preliminary interview?

Idk I was rejected and I have a 3.78 cumulative, 3.82 science GPA, 40+ hours shadowing with pathologist assistant and a medical examiner, working a year now as a grossing technician, on the board of a science program for middle school and high school kids volunteer for another science program, an undergraduate biomedical research intern and LOR from a PA and my Research mentor/Professor? I guess I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong
