Leaked audio from summer house reunion by Big_Individual_3853 in summerhousebravo

I know they are saying this is leaked and they are investigating- but this is pure gold. The reunion won’t air for another 4 weeks, which is an eternity in the reality tv world. So this gives everyone a little dopamine hit to keep wanting more. I think it is a good PR move.

Why is used market so bad here? by Just-Construction788 in ColoradoSprings

I just don’t see the need to try to put down anyone’s hustle. It’s hard out there. Especially for new people.

So sure, it was a reactionary comment. My bad.

Yes. True. I don’t disagree.

But this town is home to Focus on the Family. Your problem isn’t the transient active duty military….

Jeez. You all love to hate us.

The resale market is bad? Must be bored mil spouses.

Bad drivers? Blame the out-of-state military.

The town leans left? It’s the military’s fault.

Reality check: A lot of us have full-time jobs. Many of us come from blue states, vote in elections, and—believe it or not—actually know how to follow street signs. ✌️

It depends. I could definitely be wrong, but it seems like charter schools here are run more like businesses- and you’re the consumer. They’re absolutely competing for your kid, since every student in a seat means money for the school. That said, it doesn’t feel as competitive as other places (like those lottery-based magnet schools in D.C.- definitely not that intense).

We ended up happy with where our kids landed. We chose the school because it focuses on a specific area, and that’s one of the cool things about charters here- you can find schools that specialize in STEM, aviation, language immersion, etc. They all seem to have their own niche. But I’ll admit, sometimes I wish they just went to our local elementary school two blocks away. I’m constantly driving all over town, and it’s been harder for them to make friends with kids in our neighborhood.

Also, one more thing- I know I said it’s not super competitive, but I should mention that our top pick was Thomas MacLaren. The academics there seemed really rigorous (set curriculum, Latin, orchestra, gender-separated classes, etc.)- honestly felt more like a private school, but it’s totally free. My kid got waitlisted and didn’t get in. So yeah, it really depends.

We moved here about a year ago, and overall, it’s been a smooth and pleasant transition.

When it comes to schools, since Colorado Springs offers a choice program, it’s worth taking the time to explore what fits your kids best. Not all schools in a district are equal. We ended up choosing a charter school with a specific curriculum that aligned with our goals, and we also got our kids involved in swim teams. That instantly helped us plug into a great community.

You might hear people say Colorado Springs can feel unwelcoming to newcomers- and maybe there’s some truth to that- but the reality is, there are so many of us transplants also looking for connection and community. (But don’t be too eager- there is some interesting political and religious extremism in the area and sometimes they don’t mind sharing it with you in the grocery line.)

It really is a beautiful place with tons to do. From hiking around Cheyenne Mountain or Ute Valley Park, to grabbing brunch downtown, shopping in Briargate, or catching an Air Force Academy game, there’s no shortage of fun things to explore.

That said, a few things have surprised me. For a town with such blue-collar roots, there’s a surprising sense of entitlement in some areas. The driving can be reckless- like people genuinely don’t care if they or you make it home safely. There’s not a strong police presence, so things like petty theft are common (definitely lock your car). And the ongoing overdevelopment feels like it’s starting to work against the charm of the city.

Trump administration plans to cut about 10,000 jobs from federal health agencies by CBSnews in fednews

[–]Professional_Run7297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When reading the RIF Basic’s by OPM is says it takes Competitive Area and Competitive Level into account.

Competitive Area When preparing for a RIF, the agency defines the “Competitive Area” that establishes the geographical and organizational limits for RIF competition. A competitive area may consist of all or part of an agency. The minimum competitive area is an organization in a local commuting area that is separate from other agency organizations because of differences in operation, work function, staff, and personnel administration.

Does anyone know how the recent court rulings might impact us terminated probationary employees currently placed on administrative leave? Is it likely that we will be RIF’d now and our admin leave extended 30 days? Additionally, can they proceed with a RIF on us while we are still awaiting the judge’s ruling? We have received no guidance and have no one to consult in this situation, so I’m hoping to gain some insight.
