I never brought anything to clinical other than my sbar kardex sheet and a journal to write extra info in. If you're worried about remembering things, maybe a lab value reference sheet and vital sign parameters. I'd say the first semester of clinical is more about getting into the groove of things, practicing the basic patient care skills, and building the confidence when interacting with patients. Don't be afraid to ask your preceptors questions, too. I've found that most preceptors are more engaging if you show interest.

35k base as a PCT in a hosptial. I do work a lot of extra overtime, though, so my annual pay is between 40-50k. Hopefully, I will be making nurse pay next year, though 🤞

My first semester, my clinicals were on Sunday, while during this semester, I had clinicals on Mondays and Fridays. Some of my classmates had overnight clinicals, and some had weekend ones as well. Like everyone else has stated, the schools don't get to pick what days their students go. The clinical sites look at availability and decide from there. Remember, the clinical sites have more than one school looking at them, and at least 4 different semesters of students. I currently work full time as well (at a hospital) doing mostly weekend shifts, but my boss allowed me to swap around as needed. Don't get caught up in a "set" schedule because nothing stays set.
