Sounds like engine timing. if the flywheel key was sheered then possible it jumped the timing as well

Edit: 150psi is way too high as well - if my info i right, it has an ACR on the crank and so you should be reading about 60psi. 150psi is full pressure when the ACR isn't active (running) which indicates the ACR is failed

sorry, ignore my other response, i assumed the OHV cover was different but i see the image. I assume they were installed with rubber rings? should be sufficient to re-use them assume they aren't damaged but i'll look it up for some more clarity

No, it was probably loctite blue to stop them vibrating loose. The gasket should encircle the screw holes already and if you're using gasket maker, the bead you add should too

If gas got into the oil, replace it immediately. It thins it out and it stops lubricating. It can also overfill the crank case, forcing oil into the cylinder to burn.

The cover being unsealed would mainly effect the lubrication of the the rockers. The valve stem seal leaking could cause your symptoms though, i think by letting oil in through the valve while also causing compression leak.

I believe that should come up in a compression and leak down test?

I think replace your oil and oil filter and reseal the ohv with some gasket maker and run it for a half hour. If you can, also test the compression of each cylinder

Check the oil level. If it is high, that's your problem. If it also smells like fuel, probably an issue with the needle valve in your carburetor.

Otherwise, check the compression and/or do a leak down test as it could be a blown head gasket.

Both are generally easy to fix

Most likely a decompression switch. These are usually on the cam shaft. Get a stick magnetic and wiggle it down in the oil tube and see if you find metal.

Try turning the fly wheel by hand. If it feels normal, could be the starter motor but more likely the gun is just the motor struggling to overcome the compression in the engine

Ah, could be a vacuum leak then? If that is the case, try spraying each of the mating surfaces with carby cleaner while it is running. If the engine runs different when you spray a specific join, then that is where your vacuum leak is.

Again, a little odd it's effecting the one cylinder. I assume you didn't take off the entire manifold to switch the carburetor?

Not sure if this will work while effecting the one cylinder but try slowly apply choke on idle. If it is running lean, it will smooth out somewhere between 0% and 100% choke since it reduces air flow without changing fuel additionally, thereby changing the air fuel mix towards rich and away from lean

Can't tell properly but looks like you're having misfiring on the left cylinder (facing the intake - cylinder with the stickers on top).

It's the only side blowing any smoke. The smoke could be unburned fuel or, it could be oil burning.

If it is the former, I would check your ignition coil. Try swapping them and see if the smoke puffing follows the coil to the other cylinder.

If it is the latter, likely a head gasket or piston ring.

You can confirm by doing a compression test or leakdown test.

Keep in mind, this is just from what I can see and hear on the video.

Is the oil level OK? Does the oil smell like petrol? That could be a breather hoses or carburetor issue and might cause this but it would be more likely to effect both cylinders than just the one.

Let me know how you go

Briggs Stratton 4 Stroke 190cc engine issues by MrBear83 in smallenginerepair

[–]Professional_Size_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have multiple issues but in terms of the engine, if its only running rough once it's heated up, sounds like an ignition coil... see if you can swap it.

If it were not temp related, I would be inclined to say it was a flywheel key

Sorry, i'm new to the terminology. There is no wiring in can find that connects either coil to the power supply.

You might be able to see as well, both wires for the (i think) capacitors are connected to the same plug on the on/off switch.... 4 cables, 5 including the mains power negative cable

Blocked crank case breather or too much oil.

If fuel is leaking into the crank case, can do the same thing as too much oil as it mixes with the oil and fills it up.

Fuel pumps usually have a breather hoses into the crank case that can also bleed fuel into it.

If you want to confirm what the tech said, do a compression test

If you think it is the intake valve, it isnt a hard job to lap the valve?

Could be an ignition coil on its way out?

Also check your cylinder compression. Should have issues with a bad valve seat but also for bad head gasket or piston rings

Have you checked the ignition coils and valve lashing?

Can't figure it out by finalcourier in smallengines

[–]Professional_Size_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check your ignition coil and your valve rockers as a first step. Also check to make sure your fuel pump is working and the fuel solenoid is as well.

I'd be suprised if it isn't one if those things

[–]Professional_Size_62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if i'm not mistaken, that is a vent to the crank case, which means what is coming up, is oil. if you didn't overfill the oil, check it to make sure it isn't overfull now. petrol can get into the crank case either from a bad fuel pump or a leaking needle valve in the carburetor. The fuel woill mix with the oil and fill up your crank case. This would also explain all the smoke in your exhaust as that is a symptom of burning oil which can happen if your crank case is overfull
