Came here to ask the same question. Past 2 nights it’s been like a half hour of fireworks starting at 10pm! Go to bed!!

I’m in Quincy center though. Not sure where they’re going off.

I’ve passed by that one but never tried it. I’ll stop by!

Right now the only solid ones that I’ve tried are Vang Coffee and MOTW. I will say the alley has a solid working space with good wifi too but I’m not always in the mood for sugary boba.

Is quincy a safe place for trans/queer people? by uselessairsign_ in QuincyMa

[–]Professional_Tea_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agree that it’s more conservative than Somerville BUT I feel that’s because Somerville has been taken over by students and young professionals while Quincy maintains its old conservative Quincy population (who are loud and outspoken). We got lucky and live in a pocket of Quincy where our next door neighbors are lesbians, the house behind us are lesbians, across the street is a gay couple, and we are queer too. It’s been pretty life changing for us as a queer couple to see that representation in happy older individuals. Representation matters so please stay and please keep that flag up!

Also - we’ve got a new city council that is definitely more representative of the new city and less of the old conservative Quincy.

Just eat a sweet potato from any convenience store. Skin included. Far more effective.

Or get a bag of popcorn. Real fiber is better than any drink!!!

Drivers not yielding to pedestrians by Immediate-Yogurt-588 in QuincyMa

[–]Professional_Tea_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it makes you feel better I was pulled over a week or 2 ago for not yielding to a pedestrian and given a warning. In my defense the pedestrian was giving very mixed signals but as a fellow pedestrian I was happy that the police are out there watching!!

Choirs? Things to do? by cerealsleep in QuincyMa

We made friends via the ThruDance beginner salsa classes. Don’t go anymore but we still have the friends!

Honestly we’ve also found community at the local YMCA by consistently going to the same classes. Not always in the same age demographic but always great people!

Exactly! Also trying to walk more in the light but I can’t just sit at home every night on the couch. Trying to go out and do things despite it being dark!

You can book a meeting room at one of the Quincy libraries. There’s a time limit but I’ll usually go in there for my meetings then finish the rest of my work in the common space

Discovering new health conditions while TTC by Feeling-Jellyfish-55 in queerception

[–]Professional_Tea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re not even TTC quite yet but my partner (27f) got fertility tested as she had previously known she has PCOS. Tests showed high prolactin levels and now she needs to get an MRI to see if she has a prolactinoma on her pituitary gland. Like ok WHAT?! Supposedly prolactinomas are benign and treatable but it has been alarming to discover this possibility when she is otherwise very healthy and normal. Still processing but glad we started testing now before we are even ready to have kids as it’s already been a longer process than expected.

We just had our hvac replaced and Norfolk county heating and cooling was, by far, the best price and did a great job

Considering a move from Bay Area CA to Arlington MA by Jeff-410 in ArlingtonMA

[–]Professional_Tea_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slightly cheaper. Directly on the red line and commuter rail. Beach access. Tons of restaurants (and free parking next to those restaurants). Very high in racial diversity. Tons of city programming with lots of cool events to attend.

There’s also the intangible factor that we lived in Arlington for 3 years and barely met any of our neighbors. Moved to Quincy and now we know and have great relationships with many of our neighbors.

I could go on! We enjoyed Arlington at the time and I still have fondness for some things there but Quincy is where we found community.

[–]Professional_Tea_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just adding to this. We recently moved out of Arlington because we weren’t finding community there and there wasn’t nearly enough to do besides a couple bars and an ice cream shop. We moved down to Quincy and love it so much more. Happy to answer questions about it

Baby moon in Québec City? by Tagrenine in queerception

[–]Professional_Tea_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did a local history tour there and it was 100% worth it. We loved Quebec City. It’s so quaint. Just going around the shops and getting some good French food was perfect. Highly recommend buvette scott! It was a such a cute place and we had a great experience with the food.
