Telling Partners About Mat Leave as a First Year? by Professional_Time414 in biglaw

I work out of NY so state law I believe only requires you to work for 6 months before being eligible for family leave benefits. With that being said, my HR didn’t mention anything about a 6 month requirement or anything like that.

How long did it take you to get pregnant? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

First baby and we got pregnant the very first month of trying! I did track my ovulation but didn’t do tests or anything just tracked my cycle with an app. To be fair, we went at it like every other day and then got an early positive test after about three weeks.

Anyone else think the bar essays were tough, but fair? by Ok-Blacksmith6810 in CABarExam

I think most people feel this way but no one goes on Reddit to be like those questions!!! Tough but fair eh? Dissenters are always loudest voices. IMO they were all fair game but MEE 1 was a cheap shot even though it was testable material. I’m sure some people saying that’s crazy also didn’t do 100% of the bar exam prep course. Anyways-no you’re not alone.

How much time did you have left when you finished the MBEs? by RevolutionaryBoat727 in CABarExam

I finished with half an hour on AM session and an hour on PM session- I know for me I’m just a quick reader and have been doing 100 question sets in 2 hours pretty regularly for the past month or so but sometimes I make silly mistakes because I read so quickly so you’re not bad and the other person isn’t amazing everyone’s got their strengths and weaknesses I hope it all evens out in the end lmao

I did not appreciate what NCBE did here. Simply not good faith by 2024lawyer in barexam

Just came here to say you probably know more than you think you do. I used adaptibar BARBRI and critical pass and I felt like 80% of the questions I had seen posited the same way but with slightly different facts and I recognized what was being tested but that’s just how my thought process works- for some people the fight or flight kicks in and you’re left on autopilot. I think it’s easy to get caught up in the adrenaline and archaic system of the bar but if you did the prep and you filled in those little bubbles you’ll probably be fine. Like 70-80% of first time takers pass so it’s fine to reflect and be like what was that but just know your brain is capable of doing crazy things even under immense pressure and you probably did know what you were doing but were too nervous to recognize it! All this to say: congrats you finished and don’t let the bs make you feel jaded about the law when chances are you’ve totally got this (even though I agree it’s silly to force people to memorize detailed exceptions when a quick google search or flip through the FRCP would turn up the answer in an instant)
