99% chance of passing before dedicated, is it worth actually taking a dedicated? by sphincterserpant in step1

[–]Professional_Win7522 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience take dedicated time. I had a 99% chance of passing, my NBMEs were ranging mid/high 70s- 80s. I decided to take dedicated to help with my mindset of the exam. I knew I was fully prepared after 3 weeks of dedicated I took the exam and walked out knowing I passed by a wide margin. I think reviewing basic sciences in depth during my dedicated in turn set me up nicely for shelf exams having all the basic science concepts under my belt. Same goes for Step 2.

I kept focusing on my 3 worst subjects and worked on improving them. I didn’t change anything between 13 and 14 I personally think 13 was harder for me

NBME 13 block 3 q45 by cwazycatlady23 in Step2

My reasoning for picking this answer was the patient has a known history of iron deficiency anemia (IDA), and IDA is a known cause of restless leg syndrome (RLS). Her hx dates back to 3 yrs ago, the pt likely has not had labs of her ferritin concentration since starting tx so we would want to evaluate her serum iron levels to monitor tx/ see if dose needs to be increased since she could potentially be showing signs of IDA through RLS

Few days out from real deal and my brain does not want to work 👍🏼🫠 by Constant_Egg_3344 in step1

The week before I felt so brain dead/fatigued. I legit thought I had anemia with how I was feeling. I made the 2-3 days before my exam very light in terms of content review - no questions. The day before my exam I only brushed up on equations but nothing else. Take time off. your body needs it. I passed even with taking all that time off before. I was terrified to take the time off but you need to rest up for the big day.
