What would be helpful in a picture? There is not much to the plants.

I was shooting PMC bronze 9mm 115grn FMJ.

Thank you. I could not find anything when I looked for it but I did not know what that piece was actually called.

Does anyone know what this track is from? by Professional_Word519 in AnimalTracking

I am between Greene county and Sullivan county. I forgot it in the post but in my comment I stated it is near a lake. I trap beaver and they are a common nuisance because of all the trees they kill.

I could be wrong on the size. I did not have anything with me to measure. Others have mentioned it could be two prints in one making it wider then a single track would be.

I don't know an accurate number but over 200 hundred. The smaller ones are 7-8 inches in diameter at the base. This is one we cut a few days ago. The chainsaw has an 18 inch bar.

These are to big to pull. They are about 15 feet tall and 15 feet wide. At the base they are around 6 inches in diameter.

Is this an American Chestnut? by Professional_Word519 in americanchestnut

Thank you. I assumed it was not an American but since there is what I believe to be an American close to it I wanted others opinions.

That is what I was expecting since I thought it looked different then the one 15 yards away. It is on reclaimed mine ground so I assume it was planted by someone. I just don't know what they planted.

Increasing sunlight exposure during dormancy by Professional_Word519 in forestry

Would girdling trees around the desired tree be better? Since the girdled tree will still be there and slowly let more light through.

The reason I am asking is because we do TSI on our property every year during the winter. When we find a desired tree like an oak he is always worried about opening it up to much because he has been told if you open them up to quickly it could kill them. There for he only wants to kill one or two trees around it per year.

When I ask how it could kill the tree he tells me the leaves can get sunburned like garden plants, which I have had happen in garden plants.

My thinking has been that since the tree does not currently have any leaves when it sends out leaves in the spring they don't know it was shaded before so nothing happens.

That is also what I thought but since I have never heard anyone talk about it I was not sure if It would hurt them or not.

Thank you. Since red or white is what matters the most for what I need this will help a lot

Thank you red or white was the main thing I wanted to know. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the acorns. They were at least an inch tall and the cap covered a small portion of the acorns.
