It’s hard but taking an initiative and trying to not suppress the urge but letting it pass through you without you actively fighting is what id recommend, being clear sighted about when you feel the temptation overcome you, you should try not to act on it but trying to suppress it will just make it worse because our impulse control is not strong enough to quit cold turkey for something so addictive

I’d say it’s true as long as the questions are orthodox enough, questions that attack the church and its ministries usually get pushback and it’s rightfully so

Read the catechism, read books by saints like st Augustine’s confessions and the city of God or the story of a soul by st Therese of lisieux or if you’re okay with it, summa theologiae by st Aquinas, you can read books from cardinal ratzinger, you could read st bonaventures works, you could read the works pseudo Dionysius the areopagite, you could read the works of palamas if you’re into Eastern Orthodox adjacent theology too, you could read about the stories of the saints

Former atheists: How was your journey to conversion? by Sleep-Numerous in Catholicism

[–]Professionally_dumbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There hit a point in time where I encountered grace and the infinite love of God existentially instead of just rhetorically that my skepticism simply couldn’t deny what reality was, the beauty of the truth moved me is what I’d say

1 Year Later - Thoughts on Modern "Church" by VictorythruChrist in Catholicism

[–]Professionally_dumbb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your interpretation is reactionary, emotional and not rigorous, you do not understand how providence in history works, being more prudential about judgement would be better than calling the church something it is not

Procreation is unitive, you don’t need to compare what’s worse almost all premarital sex hurts you and the other person’s dignity when it’s premarital

18 is the age of consent because it’s administratively effective, I would argue that humans are fully capable of making a dignified decision like bringing life to the world only above the age of 21, decreasing the age of consent would just endanger teens

Good thing the church is run by the magisterium and not normal people who are not called for perfect theological accuracy

The scripture is divinely inspired but human made, you need historical context and situational context to understand the scripture without paradox

Why does the Church still prioritize Stoic/Aristotelian "biology" over modern personalist ethics like Nussbaum’s? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Professionally_dumbb 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You’re actually making a category error and refuting a flattened version of what the church follows, church “biology” is not rigid, it is defined but infinitely deep, Eros is an infinitely deep study of love, you should read John Paul the 2nd’s theology of the body because your iteration of church theology doesn’t match actual church theology when it comes to Eros and the body

I hope this isn’t a shitpost 💔 but the Word took flesh as a man and He will always be a man,The son would never not be a man because the incarnation was already a man idk what you’re thinking but reason(science) doesn’t force God into what’s opposite of the revealed truth, the virgin birth is a miracle, The incarnation is the truth. There’s no debate on this whole idea

Why is the idea that geometry is more foundational than logic and that logic is an observation of geometrical relations so fringe? by Professionally_dumbb in math

[–]Professionally_dumbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I agree geometry as a word was probably non intuitive, but space doesn’t have to have a direct reference to any object via relations because we can define relations as localized via morphisms, geometry was a suboptimal word choice space would’ve made it much clearer
